Russian President Vladimir Putin and US President Donald Trump had a phone conversation on June 4, RIA Novosti reported, citing Yuri Ushakov, an aide to the Russian leader. The two leaders discussed the results of the talks in Istanbul and the attacks by the Ukrainian Armed Forces on Russian airports.

Regarding the negotiations with Ukraine, President Putin spoke in detail about the results of the second round of talks with Ukraine in Istanbul. Russia hopes to continue the dialogue as the parties study the draft memorandum on the agreement. In addition, the issue of a possible meeting between President Putin and Mr. Zelensky was never on the actual agenda.

Regarding the attacks by the Armed Forces of Ukraine on Russian airports, Mr. Ushkov said that President Putin spoke in detail about this issue: "Ukraine tried to disrupt the negotiations by carrying out targeted attacks on civilian and civilian targets on the direct orders of the Kiev authorities. The Russian side did not succumb to the provocation, and the second round took place in Istanbul."

According to Mr. Ushakov, in fact, Kiev has turned into a terrorist organization: "You know how to deal with terrorists. But this does not cancel the negotiations, because it is necessary to reach some solutions."

For his part, President Donald Trump confirmed that the US was not informed in advance about the plans by Ukraine.

The two leaders agreed to continue communication on Ukraine at the highest level and through other channels.

Along with that, the two leaders exchanged views on the prospects for restoring cooperation between the countries, which has great potential, confirming their readiness to maintain regular contact with each other.

Issues such as the Middle East and the conflict between India and Pakistan were also discussed by the US and Russian presidents. President Trump said that he would be grateful if Russia cooperated with Iran on a nuclear deal.
