(Baonghean.vn) - With 17 criteria already completed, and only rural transportation and irrigation remaining, Dien My commune (Dien Chau district) will achieve its goal of building a new rural area by the end of this year. This was affirmed by Mr. Tran Anh Tuan - Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of the commune.
Although Dien My commune is in group 2 of the district (group 1 includes Dien Hong and Dien Thap communes), according to the Deputy Chairman of the District People's Committee, Tang Van Luyen, what we saw when we visited Dien My was an atmosphere of excitement, as if they were racing against time.
In Hamlet 11, everyone is focusing intensely on completing the remaining inter-hamlet and alley roads. Currently, there is a movement in the hamlet to donate land for road construction. Mr. Truong Nhac (90 years old) has set an example by donating 20 square meters of his land and cutting down 7 coconut trees so that the concrete road can run straight, clear, and wide. Three households in Hamlet 11 have followed Mr. Truong Nhac's example, with a total donated land area of over 100 square meters.
Dien My commune has 14 hamlets, 1,650 households with 6,525 inhabitants, and one parish called Dong Kien. The total natural area of the commune is 425 hectares, of which 215 hectares are cultivated. Rice yield in the winter-spring season reaches 7 tons/hectare, and in the summer-autumn season it averages 5.4 tons/hectare. The commune also has Dinh Market with a well-organized row of stalls covering an area of up to 9,000 square meters.
Walking through the commune, you'll see many new 2-3 story houses with modern and luxurious architecture. In the near future, Dien My will become a bustling and vibrant town, serving the communes in the northeastern part of Dien Chau district (Dien Hoang, Dien Hung, Dien Hai, Dien Phong, Dien My, and Dien Yen). Besides cultivating rice, corn, and various vegetables, the people of Dien My are now very active, acting as intermediaries in the trade of agricultural products, milling, and food items.
