Regional Defense Exercise - Civil Defense: Repelling enemy attacks on villages.

Within the framework of the 2022 Nghe An Provincial Regional Defense and Civil Defense Exercise, on the morning of August 31st, the Exercise Steering Committee organized a live combat scenario: "Attacking an enemy attacking a village/commune." The combat location was Hamlet 4, Hung Yen Nam Commune, Hung Nguyen District.

Attending and directing the exercise on behalf of Military Region 4 was Major General Le Van Vy, Deputy Chief of Staff of Military Region 4.

Representing Nghe An province were Comrade Nguyen Van Thong – Standing Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Deputy Head of the Provincial Exercise Steering Committee; Comrade Nguyen Nam Dinh - Member of the Provincial Party Standing Committee, Standing Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Council; and Comrade Nguyen Thi Thu Huong - Member of the Provincial Party Standing Committee, Head of the Provincial Propaganda Department. Also present were representatives from the Provincial Border Guard Command, the Provincial Police, various departments and agencies, and leaders of Hung Nguyen district.

"Defeating enemy attacks on villages and communes" was one of the key elements in the 2022 Nghe An Provincial Defense and Civil Defense exercise. The exercise simulated a scenario where, after occupying several neighboring localities, the enemy advanced into Hung Yen Nam commune.

Meanwhile, the army and people of Hung Yen Nam commune built a continuous and solid system of village and commune fortifications; coordinating with the armed forces of Hung Yen Bac and Hung Trung communes and other localities and units to prevent, wear down, and destroy enemy attacks on the area. This created favorable conditions for higher levels to counterattack, destroy the enemy, and maintain control of the area...

The fighting process relied on the operational plan from higher levels, and the village defenses were proactively prepared; the material infrastructure serving the fighting in the area was interconnected and solid. Increased observation and thorough understanding of the situation, flexible application of various tactical forms, and elimination of domestic reactionary forces were crucial. Close coordination between forces and friendly units, using firepower and obstacles, resolutely prevented and eliminated the enemy right from the edge of the village. When the enemy occupied a part of the area, through various methods, rapid counterattacks were launched, defeating enemy offensives and maintaining control of the area.

The exercise was assessed as successful, well-executed, and closely aligned with reality. Through these exercises, the Steering Committee will draw lessons to serve as a basis for developing and supplementing combat plans for local armed forces, building a strong national defense system, effectively countering all schemes and tactics of hostile forces, and building an increasingly solid defense zone.
