Specifically, through professional work, especially from investigating dangerous gangs in the area that use guns and ammunition, the Criminal Police Department grasped important information: these gangs bought "hot goods" from a young character nicknamed Ut. The hidden boss sold guns to the big guys for 12 - 30 million VND/gun; he even rented guns to settle gang feuds.
In addition, the buying and selling of guns and ammunition on Facebook has recently become more active, causing social unrest... Gangs stockpile 'hot goods' ready to use for clashes, killing each other or robbing.

Based on that, in October 2017, Ho Chi Minh City Police established a special investigation project, assigning the Criminal Police Department's Special Criminal Team to take charge. However, finding the identity of boss Ut was not easy.
The investigation team followed the traces of anonymous subjects, buying and selling guns and ammunition on the social network Facebook and applied many professional measures to capture the notorious gangs. Gradually, the links in the chain of production and trading of extremely "huge" guns and ammunition were clarified and the true identity of the boss nicknamed Ut was also revealed, namely Nguyen Hong Phuc as mentioned above.
The "hot goods" boss in the role of a farmer
Once the identity of the boss Phuc was determined, the task force's detectives followed him day and night, waiting for the right moment to cast their net. On October 9, Phuc returned to his wife's house in Mang Thit district, Vinh Long province; at this time, the detectives were already in ambush there.
However, it was not until 3 days later, when it was determined that Phuc was carrying a large amount of guns and ammunition, that the detectives decided to arrest him. That was on the afternoon of October 12, when Phuc took a bag containing 1 M67 grenade (American), 1 ZP5 gun, 3 revolvers, 1 homemade gun that fired sports bullets, 1 silencer, 70 sports bullets... and climbed into a passenger car parked on Pham Hung Street, Vinh Long City, Vinh Long Province with the intention of going to Ho Chi Minh City to deliver the goods to his juniors to find a buyer.

Boss Nguyen Hong Phuc was arrested by detectives on a 16-seat passenger bus in Vinh Long City. |
Suddenly, the ambush reconnaissance team rushed in to control and arrest Phuc, not giving him time to reach into his bag to take out a gun to fight back.
Initially, Phuc gave a roundabout statement. The detectives quickly and secretly transferred Phuc to a farm in Son Lang village, Phu Son commune, Bu Dang district, Binh Phuoc province for a search and discovered a warehouse of guns, ammunition, and dangerous weapons there.
According to the scouts, Phuc used this farm to hide guns and ammunition; to research, produce, renovate and test newly produced guns and ammunition. At the same time, the scouts revealed that to keep the arms trading activities secret, Phuc pretended to be a gentle farmer, cultivating the farm; when the police arrested this boss, the people around the farm were completely surprised.

Phuc's arrest was kept secret so that all the links in this chain were not affected. Within the next 10 days, the task force expanded the arrest to 8 other subjects...
According to the investigation team, pretending to be a farmer, boss Phuc often went online to learn about how to manufacture and modify guns. Initially, Phuc bought most of the goods from unknown sources on social media, mostly pellet guns. Phuc then brought them back to his farm in Binh Phuoc to store and then researched and modified them into defense bullet guns.
Gradually mastering the stages of gun modification, Phuc researched and produced both guns and ammunition and other types of weapons and gun parts such as mines, silencers, etc. Phuc tested guns right at the farm but no one knew. In addition, the "hot goods" were transferred by Phuc to another house of this boss in Duc Phong town, Bu Dang district to hide.
Once the “finished product” was ready, Phuc handed it over to his trusted juniors like Le Ngoc Mai (alias Minh, born in 2001, from Dong Thap) to find a buyer. Despite his young age, Tai had connections with many powerful gangsters, so he could easily sell the goods.
Important links in the above-mentioned chain also include Khuc Chi Tai (born 2000, from Hung Yen, temporarily residing in Hoc Mon district, Ho Chi Minh City), Mai Quang Minh (born 1999, residing in Binh Chanh district, Ho Chi Minh City). In which, Minh sold guns and ammunition to Tai, and Tai was the main source of large supplies for Phuc so that the boss could renovate and resell for profit.
According to the investigation team, the busted ring, as mentioned, was quite roundabout in its buying and selling, with many hidden transactions, through the social network Facebook.
The task force is currently continuing to expand the investigation.
