The misfortune and loss of actor Viet Anh
Viet Anh admits that he is lucky to have a successful acting career, but in return, he does not have a complete family life, does not have the real home that he desires.
9 out of 10 people asked: "Will this movie go to jail again?"
- After two "reformations" on television last year in "Journey of Justice" and "Ex-husband, Ex-wife, Ex-lover", many people commented that he is only suitable for playing villains or criminals. Does Viet Anh think so??
Not only Viet Anh, anyone who plays a good, positive character finds it harder to make an impression and attract attention than a villain. It's not that I don't see that, but I simply think that doing something over and over again will get boring, not only for me but also for the audience.
I know that when switching to the good guy line, it will be less attractive, that is, Viet Anh's playing field is less expressed than the villain line. Any transitional period has its ups and downs. When doing well in the villain line, switching to the good guy is difficult to attract immediately, if it does, it is a lucky thing.
I was very concerned about choosing a character or a script, but I couldn't choose forever. I needed to be responsible for my profession and my colleagues. Because when they came to me, they probably needed Viet Anh. If you only want to choose good roles, that's selfish. Sometimes you have to know how to sacrifice for everyone. If you do art only for yourself, it will be very difficult to succeed.

- At the press conference to launch the movie "War Without Borders", you said from now on, don't call Viet Anh the character who goes to prison. Is that true or a joke?
It's true! I can play a decent role, not really excellent, but it's a timely change. No one wants to play a criminal character forever. I also get bored when before I accept a movie, people say "you're going to jail again", there's nothing surprising anymore. I want to bring the audience something fresher, more unique, different.
When reporting onWar Without BordersOn Facebook, 9 out of 10 people ask: "Will this movie go to jail?". Viet Anh's mission is to gradually change the content of that constant question with sentences like:What is the fate of this character? What is the new color of the character?Viet Anh has been in the profession for nearly 20 years, and most of the time he has been playing a villain, so changing the audience's mindset cannot happen overnight, it takes a process. But if he doesn't change, when will the audience recognize him?

- Is playing a good person in the new movie a big challenge for you, especially the role of a soldier, which is very difficult to break the mold in acting?
Taking on this role was a loss for me. With the image of an officer in the Vietnam People's Army, the hardest thing for Viet Anh was the manners, commands, regulations... things that are not encountered in daily life.
Movies about love, marriage and family can freely create characters, can "go all out" with co-stars. With this movie, absolutely not because the military officer characters are in an unchangeable mold that I have to follow, so it is a bit dry. But that does not mean there is nothing to do.
However, the advantage is that this is the image of an Army officer in the reform period. The character Trung of Viet Anh inWar Without BordersHaving a tragic life is the disadvantage of a Border Guard soldier with the special characteristic of living far from home.
They may be away for several years, so not only themselves but also their loved ones suffer because their husbands and fathers are not there at the most important time. Many people confided that when they returned from business trips, they had lost their families.
I saw this as an exploitable material and immediately discussed with director Danh Dung to put into the characters the most familiar things so that when watching the audience would not only see a general film about the army but inside the figures of those soldiers were husbands, fathers, and men in the family.
Through his character, Viet Anh wants viewers to see that when they take off their officer uniforms, they also have many worries and concerns. That is interesting because there is a certain similarity with my current life. There are losses that sometimes cannot be told to anyone. That is the opportunity for Viet Anh to put his own life into the character.

You can't expect everyone to sympathize with you.
- You just said that you also have losses and disadvantages that sometimes you can't tell anyone and want to put into the character. What are those specifically?
Life always has two sides, when you gain one thing, you lose another and vice versa. Maybe Viet Anh is lucky because he has more or less success in his acting career. But in return, my loss is the same as many other colleagues, which is not having a complete family life, not having the home that I really desire.
It is a trade-off, accepting that if you spend too much time on something outside, you will not be able to take care of your family. If you are not lucky enough to have a family that sacrifices, tolerates, and nurtures each other, you will have to face loss.
Therefore, Viet Anh always feels pain when playing roles with unfortunate fates. It is an opportunity to live in a role, to put his worries and emotions into the character. Of course, there are things that cannot be said or shared, and it is also impossible to demand that everyone sympathize with him. As long as the people around him love, care for and understand him, that is enough.

- On a rare day off, returning to Hanoi to attend the movie premiere on the first day of school, I wonder if Viet Anh will bring his son to class?
At the moment, I want to keep my family private so I ask permission not to share with the media. Viet Anh is only willing to talk about work and roles. Perhaps from now on, that will be my principle. Even on his personal page, Viet Anh does not update anything related to his private life, family or other relationships.
- But the people involved keep wanting to drag you in, putting Viet Anh in a situation where he has to speak up to defend himself. What will you do then?
Up until now, Viet Anh has never wanted to bring his personal story to the media and to the public. But if that story affects Viet Anh and his relatives, he must speak up. Speaking up here is not to prove anything, but it is time for the public to understand the truth.
