Coming home from drinking, hearing his wife say someone threw a rock at the house and hit someone, the vice chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Thach Hoa commune took a knife to his neighbor's house and slashed him, seriously injuring the person.

On the afternoon of August 26, a source from the Tuyen Hoa District Police (Quang Binh) said that this unit is completing the file to prosecute Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Thanh - Vice Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Thach Hoa Commune for using a knife to slash someone.

According to the case file, on the evening of August 22, Mr. Thanh came home from drinking and heard his wife say that someone had just thrown a rock into the house and hit her. Angry, Mr. Thanh took a knife and went out into the street to find the rock thrower.

After going out for a while, he saw Nguyen Van Nam standing in front of his house, so Mr. Thanh went in to question him about the rock throwing. Mr. Nam denied it, so they argued and Mr. Thanh used the knife he was carrying to slash Mr. Nam. Mr. Nam was rushed to the hospital with a very large cut on his head.

Tuyen Hoa District Police arrived shortly after to investigate the incident. Initial statements showed that Mr. Thanh had committed the act while under the influence of alcohol.

Mr. Nam is currently being treated at the hospital with serious injuries.
