Murder investigation in the case of 3 daughters burning down their mother's house
Three daughters brought gasoline to burn down their mother's house, causing severe burns to the mother and four children, due to a conflict over land inheritance rights.
On November 4, Hung Yen Provincial Police said that the Investigation Police Agency had initiated a case of "Killing",according to Article 123 of the Penal Code.
According to initial verification, the three daughters of Ms. Vu Thi Deu (61 years old), namely Do Thi Dinh (40 years old), Do Thi Diem (34 years old) and Do Thi Dua (32 years old), have for many years often had conflicts with their mother in dividing land inheritance rights.
At around 9:30 a.m. on October 30, the three daughters brought a 10-liter can of gasoline to their mother's house in Trung Hoa commune, Yen My district. Ms. Diem poured gasoline on the floor of Ms. Dieu's living room and lit it on fire, police said.

The mother and her children are being treated at the National Burn Institute. Mrs. Dau suffered burns to more than 80% of her body, "life-threatening". Ms. Dinh and Diem suffered severe burns, and Ms. Dua suffered burns to both of her feet.
Mr. Do Van Dien, the second son of Mrs. Deu, said that since building the new house, the sisters in the family began to have conflicts. At the end of 2020, the youngest daughter submitted a petition to the People's Committee of Trung Hoa commune to resolve the division of land inheritance on the grounds that the land left by her father was the inheritance of all three sisters, but her mother and brother used it as their own property. Therefore, she was "not satisfied".
The commune leader said that they had tried to mediate the family's affairs three times but failed. The family had asked for internal mediation but "the rift between family members was growing bigger and bigger."
