Elementary school teacher suspended for using ruler to hit 23 students

(Baonghean.vn) - This is a temporary decision before Dien Lam Primary School - Quy Chau holds a disciplinary meeting to discipline teacher Quang Thi Huong for beating a student in class 4A on the afternoon of March 15.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Chau - Head of the Department of Education and Training of Quy Chau district said that the department has worked with the school to verify the incident and requested the school to temporarily suspend Ms. Huong's teaching while waiting for disciplinary action to be considered.

Before that, teacher Quang Thi Huong used a plastic ruler to hit the hands, buttocks and some other areas of 23/27 students of class 4A that she was in charge of. The reason, she later explained, was because she was too disappointed with the low results of the midterm exam. One student was hit on the head and later complained of pain and was taken by his family to Tay Bac General Hospital for examination.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Chau also said: Teacher Quang Thi Huong sincerely reviewed her actions and affirmed that she beat her students because she was too worried and not for personal purposes. The above test was only to monitor the progress of the students and not to record the scores in the book. However, many students who studied well still scored below average, so teacher Huong was too worried, leading to her "impulsive" actions.

Tomorrow morning (March 21), Dien Lam Primary School will complete the documents and send them to the District Department of Education and Training for comments before the disciplinary council meeting. The handling will be carried out according to Decree No. 27/2012/ND-CP on disciplinary handling of civil servants.

On the morning of March 18, Dien Lam Primary School also held a meeting with parents to ask for their opinions on disciplining teacher Quang Thi Huong. Here, teacher Quang Thi Huong apologized to parents, students and the school for her actions.
