Three officials from the Nghe An mobile weighing station have been suspended from their duties.

On the morning of April 21, the Nghe An Department of Transport announced that it had decided to temporarily suspend three officials at a mobile weighing station located in Dien An commune, Dien Chau district, for 30 days (starting from April 18).

The three suspended officials are Nguyen Van Khanh, Nguyen Van Thanh, and Phung Duc Minh, all of whom have many years of experience in the transportation sector. One of them was a former transportation inspector and was assigned to the Nghe An Mobile Vehicle Weight Inspection Station, which had only recently been established.

Three officials have been suspended from their duties due to complaints and media reports alleging violations in the handling of oversized and overloaded vehicles at the mobile vehicle weight inspection station; and for exhibiting poor conduct and failing to strictly adhere to the regulations of the Nghe An Department of Transport while on duty.

Recently, the operation of the mobile vehicle weight inspection station in Nghe An has revealed many shortcomings, causing negative public opinion. These include the situation where many overloaded vehicles are seen on the roads, but only a small number are actually inspected, creating an unfair situation for vehicle owners.

Some owners of overloaded vehicles avoid the checkpoint by using alternative routes, which affects traffic safety.

Nghe An province is committed to strictly handling violations by officials at mobile vehicle weight inspection stations if they allow violations, corruption, or non-compliance with regulations of the transport sector to occur; and to dealing with vehicle owners who deliberately avoid the stations.
