Suspension of police officer accused of beating people

On July 5, the leader of My Hao Town Police (Hung Yen province) confirmed that Mr. Tong Hong Nui, Hoa Phong Commune Police, had been suspended from work.

Mr. Nui was accused by Mr. Nguyen The Huyen (38 years old, residing in Van Duong village, Hoa Phong commune, My Hao town) of beating him and injuring him.

“The incident is being verified seriously and objectively. Any violations will be strictly handled,” said the leader.

Mr. Huyen said he was beaten at the Hoa Phong Commune Police Station; his face was injured, bleeding profusely and he is being treated at Pho Noi General Hospital.

According to initial information, at 2:30 p.m. on July 3, Hoa Phong Commune Police invited Mr. Huyen to the headquarters to verify information related to a previous incident.

At the office of the Commune Police Chief, the police officer asked Huyen about the incident of the fight on July 2. A moment later, a police officer wearing a T-shirt, flip-flops, and blue pants entered the room and asked Huyen who was right and who was wrong in this incident. Huyen said he was not wrong. At this point, the officer stopped asking and punched Huyen repeatedly in the face.

When the door opened, Mr. Huyen ran out but was pulled back by plainclothes police officers and pushed back into the room. Only when his family and people gathered at the commune police station was Mr. Huyen allowed to go out. This incident was recorded on a clip.

At 4:00 p.m. the same day, Mr. Huyen went to the My Hao town police headquarters to report being assaulted by a commune police officer named Tong Hong Nui.
