Djokovic eliminated in the third round of Wimbledon.
The world number one was unable to come back and defeat Sam Querrey, suffering a 6-7, 1-6, 6-3, 6-7 loss despite his best efforts.
Novak Djokovic recently celebrated his record of 30 consecutive Grand Slam wins after defeating Adrian Mannarino in the second round. However, he was unable to overcome a 0-2 deficit and suffered his first major tournament defeat since last year's Roland Garros final.
When the match resumed on the afternoon of July 2nd, Djokovic immediately scored two consecutive break points to lead 4-0. However, rain poured down, causing the match to be temporarily suspended again. Djokovic won one more game when the two players returned to the court, but Sam Querrey won three consecutive games afterward. However, the world number one made no mistake when serving in the ninth game and won the third set.

Djokovic missed three break points in the first game of the fourth set and allowed his opponent to hold his serve before the match was again suspended due to rain. In the sixth game, it was Querrey's turn to have two break opportunities but missed both. In the ninth game, Sam Querrey saved two break points with two aces but ultimately still lost his serve. However, despite leading 5-4 and serving, Djokovic couldn't capitalize on the opportunity to level the score. He allowed Querrey to win the first break of the fourth set and had to play a tie-break to decide the winner.
In this tense tie-breaker, Djokovic took the lead, going from 3-1 to 4-3. However, Sam Querrey leveled the score and then took the lead 6-4. Djokovic won a point with an ace but ultimately lost when his forehand went out of bounds.
This defeat ended the Serbian player's hopes of winning a Grand Slam year. Prior to this, Djokovic had won the Australian Open and Roland Garros. Furthermore, he failed to claim his third consecutive Wimbledon title and become only the second male player in history to win five consecutive Grand Slams.
