Downhill driving - the deadly recklessness of Vietnamese youth
Perhaps not many young motorcyclists today know that going downhill and encroaching on lanes at bends, turning off the engine and drifting are ways to shorten the life of themselves and others.
The video above, which was circulated on social media by Nguyen Thanh Luan, is one of many examples of the recklessness and lack of knowledge of young Vietnamese people when riding motorbikes on mountain passes.
Right at the blind corner of Bao Loc pass (Lam Dong), a long container truck was crawling slowly, a dozen motorbikes in full gear jumped into the opposite lane to pass, almost causing the driver with the dash cam to have an unfortunate accident.
Among those young people, how many of them know that they are not allowed to overtake at blind corners on mountain passes but still do so, and how many of them drive out of instinct and without any knowledge? I do not have the answer, but I know for sure that by driving like this, young people are trying to shorten their lives and the lives of others.
This is just one of many mistakes when traveling on mountain passes. Tam Dao slope (Vinh Phuc) has witnessed ironic accidents because the driver turned off the engine to let it drift... freely. The sloping road on the Northwest mountain passes when motorcyclists enter corners too quickly can cause countless accidents. Furthermore, you ride a scooter downhill but do not know how to control the speed with the clutch... so accidents are very understandable.
Young people have a saying: pick up your backpack and go, start the engine and go... But don't let a moment of impulsiveness prevent you from equipping yourself with the necessary safety knowledge when riding a motorbike on mountain roads.
Start the engine and go, but remember, go to come back.
