Nghe An province delegation offered incense to commemorate heroic martyrs in Can Tho and An Giang
On the occasion of the 78th anniversary of War Invalids and Martyrs Day (July 27, 1947 - July 27, 2025), the delegation of the Provincial Party Committee, People's Council, People's Committee and Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Nghe An province organized a flower and incense offering ceremony at martyr cemeteries in Can Tho city and An Giang province.

The activity demonstrates the morality of "When drinking water, remember its source", affirming the sentiments and responsibilities of the Party Committee, Government and People of Nghe An in preserving and promoting the tradition of gratitude and repaying favors.

The working delegation was led by comrades: Dang Thanh Tung - Member of the Provincial Party Executive Committee, Chief of the Provincial People's Committee Office; Nguyen Duc Thanh - Vice Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Nghe An province; and leaders of the Department of Home Affairs and the Department of Construction.

In Can Tho city, the delegation offered flowers and incense at the City Martyrs Cemetery (Cai Rang ward); where 5,200 graves of soldiers are gathered, of which 49 graves were identified as children of Nghe An hometown; Thot Not Martyrs Cemetery (Thuan Hung ward), the resting place of 575 martyrs, with 143 graves identified as being from Nghe An hometown.

Continuing the journey of gratitude, in An Giang province, the working delegation visited 3 large martyrs' cemeteries, the resting place of tens of thousands of soldiers and cadres during the resistance war, including: An Giang Martyrs' Cemetery (Rach Gia ward, formerly Kien Giang province cemetery), the resting place of 4,495 martyrs, of which 189 martyrs' graves were identified as being from Nghe An; Doc Ba Dac Martyrs' Cemetery (Thoi Xuyen ward), where there are 8,000 martyrs' graves, with 86 martyrs' graves identified as being from Nghe An and An Giang Martyrs' Cemetery in An Chau commune - formerly a cemetery of An Giang province before merging with Kien Giang, where 2,500 graves are gathered, of which 31 martyrs' graves were identified as being from Nghe An.

At the cemeteries, in a solemn atmosphere, the working delegation respectfully offered flowers and incense in memory of President Ho Chi Minh's altar and the Monument to Heroes and Martyrs, to the solemn music of "Soul of Martyrs".

Wreaths bearing the words "Provincial Party Committee - People's Council - People's Committee - Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Nghe An province respectfully offer" were solemnly placed at the cemeteries, expressing the deep affection, gratitude and responsibility of Nghe An homeland for the great sacrifices of generations of fathers and brothers.
The delegation took turns to visit each grave to burn incense and express their infinite gratitude to those who died for the independence and freedom of the Fatherland and for their noble international duty. Each incense stick and each minute of silence at the cemeteries is not only a tribute, but also a reminder to today's generations of their responsibility to continue the revolutionary tradition and unite to build their homeland and country.

On this occasion, the delegation of Nghe An province respectfully presented gifts to the Cemetery Management Board, recognizing the dedication and thoughtfulness of the officers and employees in preserving and caring for the graves and memorial spaces.
For Nghe An, a land rich in revolutionary tradition, the homeland of President Ho Chi Minh and many heroes and martyrs of the nation, the work of "Repaying gratitude" is always considered an important political task.

The annual gratitude trips in July, especially at cemeteries where many Nghe An people rest, are both a way to share feelings and demonstrate the province's commitment to taking care of martyrs' families, preserving historical values and educating the younger generation on patriotic traditions.
In the context of the entire Party and people looking forward to the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day September 2, this commemorative activity has even more profound meaning, preserving sacred memories and turning tradition into a driving force to build Nghe An homeland to become increasingly rich and strong, worthy of the sacrifices of generations of fathers and brothers.
