Nghe An province delegation works with the Vietnamese Embassy in China

On the morning of September 21, a working delegation including representatives of the Vietnamese Ministry of Foreign Affairs and leaders of Nghe An, Quang Tri and Tay Ninh provinces visited and worked with the Vietnamese Embassy in China.

This is an activity within the framework of the local promotion program in Korea and China (from September 16 to 25) organized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in coordination with Vietnamese representative agencies in Korea and China.

Comrade Phung Thanh Vinh - Member of the Provincial Party Executive Committee, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee as head of the working delegation of Nghe An province.

Receiving and working with the delegation were comrade Pham Thanh Binh - Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Vietnam to China, along with officers and staff of the Embassy.

At the meeting, Ambassador Pham Thanh Binh provided an overview of the Vietnam-China cooperation situation in various fields. Of which, two-way trade reached 206 billion USD according to Vietnam's statistics and 262 billion USD according to China's statistics. In the first 8 months of 2025, two-way trade continued to achieve impressive results with a turnover of 159.9 billion USD, an increase of about 22% over the same period in 2024.

In terms of investment, China has become the third largest foreign investor in Vietnam, with total registered capital reaching 4.7 billion USD in 2024 and 3.13 billion USD in the first 8 months of 2025, an increase of 37.6%. People-to-people, cultural and tourism exchanges continue to be vibrant with more than 23,000 Vietnamese students studying in China; the number of Chinese tourists to Vietnam in 2024 will reach 3.7 million and in the first 8 months of 2025 will reach 3.5 million, making it the largest market sending visitors to Vietnam.

At the meeting, Mr. Phung Thanh Vinh - Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, on behalf of the Nghe An delegation, respectfully thanked the Embassy for its attention and support during this working trip. He requested the Embassy to continue to act as a bridge and support Nghe An in three key aspects: Connecting businesses, expanding the market for agricultural products, seafood, handicrafts and construction materials; Calling for investment from Chinese corporations and enterprises in the fields of high-tech industry, renewable energy, industrial park infrastructure; Promoting cooperation in labor, education - training and people-to-people exchange.

Ambassador Pham Thanh Binh highly appreciated Nghe An province's efforts in expanding international cooperation, especially with Chinese localities.

The Vietnamese Embassy in China will always accompany, support and act as a bridge for Nghe An to promote its image, approach investors, expand export markets as well as promote cooperation in many other fields.

In addition, the Ambassador pledged to continue to closely coordinate with ministries, branches and localities, including Nghe An, to enhance trade - investment, labor, education and people-to-people exchange promotion activities, contributing to the development of cooperation between Nghe An and Chinese partners in an increasingly practical and effective manner, actively contributing to the traditional friendship and comprehensive cooperation between the two countries.

Currently, Nghe An province has established friendly relations with Hunan and Guangxi provinces (China), cooperating in the fields of trade, investment, culture, education, health care and tourism.

China is the largest trading partner, with export turnover reaching 547 million USD in 2024 and nearly 400 million USD in the first 6 months of 2025.

Nghe An province has attracted 64 FDI projects from China with a total capital of 4.1 billion USD, accounting for 70% of FDI capital in economic zones and industrial parks, including many large-scale projects with modern technology. In the period of 2023-2024 alone, more than 21,000 Nghe An workers will go to work in China, contributing to increasing income and people-to-people exchange.
