(Baonghean.vn) - On the afternoon of March 7, a delegation from the Lao National Assembly's Ethnic Committee led by Comrade Buaphan Licayda - Chairman of the National Assembly's Ethnic Committee of the Lao People's Democratic Republic visited and worked with the Provincial People's Council.

On the provincial leadership side, comrade Nguyen Xuan Son - Standing Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Council chaired the reception of the delegation.

Also attending were comrades: Cao Thi Hien - Member of the Provincial Party Standing Committee, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Council; Le Xuan Dai - Member of the Provincial Party Standing Committee, Permanent Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee; Hoang Viet Duong - Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Council and representatives of the provincial National Assembly Delegation and a number of provincial departments, branches and sectors.

At the meeting, the two sides affirmed that the special and close relationship and friendship between Vietnam and Laos in general and between Nghe An province and the three border provinces of Xieng Khouang, Bolikhamxay and Hua Phan of Laos in particular have been increasingly nurtured in the spirit of support, assistance and mutual development.

The two sides also discussed and shared many issues of mutual concern related to hunger eradication and poverty reduction; training, fostering, and placement of ethnic minority cadres in the state apparatus at all levels; state management of religion and ethnicity; operational experience of the Lao National Assembly's Ethnic Committee and the Provincial People's Council related to mechanisms and policies for ethnic minority areas;...

Affirming that ethnic and religious affairs have always been of interest to the Lao Party, State and National Assembly, Ms. Buaphan Licayda - Chairwoman of the National Assembly's Ethnic Committee also shared that Laos currently has 49 ethnic groups living together equally and helping each other to develop. Laos also has 4 official religions operating.

The Lao Party and State always respect religious activities, and at the same time strictly manage and severely handle illegal religious activities or those that take advantage of religion to divide the solidarity of Lao ethnic groups and sabotage the Lao revolution.

Ms. Buaphan Licayda - Chairwoman of the Ethnic Committee of the Lao National Assembly also highly appreciated the activities of Nghe An province in recent times in consolidating and strengthening the traditional friendship, special solidarity and comprehensive cooperation between Laos and Vietnam in general and with the three provinces of the Lao PDR that share a border with Nghe An as well as some provinces with traditional cooperative relations such as Savannakhet, Khammouane, Vientiane, and Xay Som Bun.

The Chairman of the Lao National Assembly's Ethnic Committee expressed his hope that Nghe An province will continue to maintain and develop cooperative relations in many fields with neighboring Lao provinces and provinces with traditional cooperative relations for mutual development.

Speaking at the meeting, on behalf of the provincial leaders, comrade Nguyen Xuan Son - Standing Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Council shared his joy at the socio-economic development achievements of Laos in recent times.

The Chairman of the Provincial People's Council also affirmed that ethnic policies have a very important position in the policy system in Nghe An. The attention to the effective implementation of ethnic policies issued by the Central Government and many policies issued by the province in recent times has really contributed to the socio-economic development of mountainous and ethnic areas; the poverty reduction rate is fast, averaging 4-5%/year; the political system is constantly consolidated and strengthened...

Comrade Nguyen Xuan Son emphasized: Through the good implementation of ethnic and mountainous policies, Nghe An has more conditions to consolidate and strengthen special friendship relations with provinces sharing borders with Laos.

In practice, in recent times, districts of Nghe An province bordering Lao provinces have had many practical activities, strengthening relations, cooperation, mutual assistance, and joining hands to build a peaceful, friendly, cooperative, and developed border.

Chairman of the Provincial People's Council Nguyen Xuan Son also hopes that through the visit and work of the delegation of the Lao National Assembly's Ethnic Committee, it will continue to actively contribute to fostering the special friendship between Vietnam and Laos.

Nghe An province will also strive to join hands to build and develop the special Vietnam - Laos friendship to a new height, making the two countries develop together in the integration trend.
