He expressed his belief that the Congress will promote wisdom and revolutionary mettle, set out correct guidelines and policies to help the French Communist Party overcome difficulties and challenges, continue to move the Party forward and achieve many victories in the coming time.
On behalf of the French Communist Party's leadership, Mr. Pierre Laurent sincerely thanked the Communist Party of Vietnam for sending a high-ranking delegation to attend the congress, considering this a vivid manifestation of the solidarity and closeness between the two Parties, a great encouragement and motivation not only for the congress but also for French communists and the French people.
Previously, on June 1, at the headquarters of the French Communist Party, the delegation met with National Secretary of the French Communist Party Pierre Laurent to discuss the situation of each Party and each country, the relationship between the two Parties and two States, and a number of international issues of mutual concern.
The two sides agreed to assess the traditional friendship between the two Parties as a special relationship established by President Ho Chi Minh and continuously nurtured by many generations of leaders of the two Parties. They agreed that the relationship between the two Parties has truly developed in many aspects, gone into depth, and contributed significantly to strengthening the Vietnam-France Strategic Partnership.
On this occasion, Mr. Pham Minh Chinh informed the leaders of the French Communist Party about the results of the 12th Congress and the implementation of the resolution of the 12th Congress of our Party, the results of the election of the 14th National Assembly and People's Councils at all levels for the 2016-2021 term, the situation in Vietnam as well as recent developments in the East Sea and Vietnam's policies and viewpoints on peacefully resolving disputes in the East Sea on the basis of international law, especially the 1982 United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS), the Declaration on the Conduct of Parties in the East Sea (DOC) and striving to soon achieve the Code of Conduct of Parties in the East Sea (COC).
Mr. Pierre Laurent congratulated the success of the 12th National Party Congress and the recent elections of the National Assembly and People's Councils at all levels in Vietnam, highly appreciated the achievements Vietnam has made, as well as efforts in solving current socio-economic issues.
Mr. Pierre Laurent reiterated the French Communist Party's stance of supporting freedom of navigation and aviation in the East Sea, resolving disputes through peaceful means, not using force or threatening to use force, and complying with international law including the 1982 UNCLOS; and affirmed support for the stance, viewpoint, and solution to resolve the East Sea issue of the Communist Party of Vietnam.
Appreciating the fact that the Communist Party of Vietnam sent a high-ranking delegation to the Congress, Mr. Pierre Laurent emphasized that this is a testament to the special and long-standing relationship between the two Communist Parties, a model in the world. The delegation of the Communist Party of Vietnam, on the occasion of attending the Congress, also took the opportunity to exchange and meet on the sidelines with representatives of a number of communist, workers', leftist parties and international delegations to introduce the Party and State of Vietnam as well as discuss a number of regional, international issues and foreign relations of the Communist Party of Vietnam.
Before attending the opening session of the 37th Congress of the French Communist Party, Mr. Pham Minh Chinh and the delegation of the Communist Party of Vietnam visited and laid flowers at the statue of President Ho Chi Minh in the city of Montreuil, a suburb of Paris, and worked with a number of French agencies (the Center for Training Senior Officials, under the Ministry of the Interior and the French National School of Public Administration, etc.) to learn about the structure and organization of the French government at all levels and discuss the possibility of cooperation in the future.
During their stay in France, the Communist Party of Vietnam delegation will also work with the Secretary of State in charge of State reform, leaders of the Ministry of Interior, and leaders of several provinces and cities with strong cooperation between Vietnam and France to contribute to promoting multifaceted relations between the two countries./.
