The National Assembly delegation of Nghe An province supervises environmental protection in Dien Chau and Nghi Loc.
On the morning of March 18, the Provincial National Assembly Delegation conducted a thematic supervision on the implementation of policies and laws on environmental protection in Dien Chau and Nghi Loc districts.
The inspection delegation, chaired by comrade Thai Van Thanh - Member of the Provincial Party Executive Committee, Director of the Department of Education and Training, inspected a number of locations and facilities at risk of causing environmental pollution.

In Dien Chau district, the monitoring team inspected a number of domestic waste collection points in Ngoc Bich commune and the wastewater treatment area of Lach Van fishing port.
At the waste collection point located next to Lach Van dike, after checking the situation, the delegation also received feedback from local people about the pollution at a spontaneous waste collection point located in the cemetery in Hai Bac hamlet, Ngoc Bich commune. Through the actual inspection, the delegation found that the environmental pollution was exactly as reported by the people. This shows that the lax management of the local government led to the situation of widespread waste dumping, right in the cemetery area, and affected the daily life of the people.

Next, the delegation also inspected the implementation of environmental policies and laws at the Nghi Yen Solid Waste Treatment Complex, managed and operated by Nghe An Urban Environment and Construction Joint Stock Company. Here, the delegation inspected the actual landfills and wastewater treatment plants.

According to the report, at Nghi Yen Solid Waste Treatment Complex, recently there have been many issues related to the settlement of toxic regimes, compensation for site clearance, and relocation to resettlement areas that have not been completely resolved, so there is still a situation where some households block the unit's garbage transport vehicles from entering the collection and treatment area, causing traffic congestion, disorder and affecting the production process of the unit...
The source of domestic waste treated at Nghi Yen Solid Waste Treatment Complex is mainly unsorted waste, treated by landfill, so it takes up a large area of land for treatment. There are many times when hot weather and prolonged heavy rain have affected the operation of the landfill and there is a risk of incidents that adversely affect the environment.

At the working session with Nghe An Urban Environment and Construction Joint Stock Company, the delegation also noted recommendations related to the budget for purchasing HDPE tarpaulins to cover the entire surface of landfills; the budget for investing in building a dike system surrounding the leachate reservoir to prevent wastewater from flowing into the environment during the rainy season; considering investing in building a waste incineration plant with appropriate technology, to reduce and gradually move towards not using the current landfill technology...
On behalf of the Supervisory Delegation, comrade Thai Van Thanh acknowledged the opinions of localities and units, and will have a Report on the supervision results sent to the Supervisory Delegation of the 15th National Assembly and relevant agencies and units...
