(Baonghean.vn) - On the afternoon of October 6, at the National Funeral House, No. 5 Tran Thanh Tong, Hanoi, the delegation of the Provincial Party Committee, People's Council, People's Committee, and Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Nghe An province, led by comrade Nguyen Dac Vinh - Member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Head of the Provincial National Assembly Delegation, visited former General Secretary Do Muoi.

Burning incense, commemorating, and respectfully bowing before the spirit of Comrade Do Muoi - former General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam, former Chairman of the Council of Ministers (now Prime Minister), former Advisor to the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam, the comrades in the delegation of Nghe An province expressed their infinite condolences and deep gratitude for the dedication and great contributions of Comrade Do Muoi to the glorious cause of the Party and the nation. He was an outstanding leader of the Party, an excellent student of President Ho Chi Minh, and a person who contributed to the success of the cause of innovation.

Comrade Do Muoi was born on February 2, 1917 in Dong My commune, Thanh Tri district, Hanoi city; permanent residence at No. 11, Pham Dinh Ho street, Pham Dinh Ho ward, Hai Ba Trung district, Hanoi city. He participated in revolutionary activities since 1936; joined the Communist Party of Vietnam in June 1939.

Comrade Do Muoi, former alternate member of the Party Central Committee, term II; member of the Party Central Committee, term III, IV, V, VI, VII, VIII; alternate member of the Politburo, term IV; member of the Politburo, term V, VI, VII, VIII; Standing member of the Secretariat, term VI; Chairman of the Council of Ministers (now Prime Minister) of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam (from June 1988 to June 1991); General Secretary of the Party Central Committee (from June 1991 to December 1997); Advisor to the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam (from 1997 to 2000). National Assembly delegate, term II, IV, V, VI, VII, VIII and IX.

After a period of serious illness, despite the Party, State, professors and doctors' devoted treatment and the wholehearted care of his family, due to old age and serious illness, he passed away at 11:12 p.m. on October 1, 2018 (August 22, Mau Tuat year), at the 108 Central Military Hospital, Hanoi.


With his great contributions to the glorious cause of the Party, former General Secretary Do Muoi was awarded the Gold Star Order, the 80-year Party membership badge and many other noble orders and medals by the Party and State.

During his lifetime, while working as well as when he was resting, Comrade Do Muoi always paid special attention to the development of Nghe An province. He directed and proposed many solutions to help Nghe An province grow economically, become stronger politically, and create great solidarity within the leadership apparatus as well as effectively implement the Party and State's policies in practical life...

Remembering and expressing gratitude for the great dedication and contributions of former General Secretary Do Muoi, on behalf of the Party Committee, government and armed forces of Nghe An province, comrade Nguyen Dac Vinh and the comrades in the delegation pledged to continuously strive and make efforts to bring Nghe An province to comprehensive and strong development, worthy of the expectations of previous generations.

At the funeral, the delegates of Nghe An delegation also shared the loss that comrade Do Muoi's family is experiencing. On behalf of the delegation, comrade Nguyen Dac Vinh also wrote in the condolence book for comrade Do Muoi.
