Provincial delegation visits K9 relic site (Ba Vi - Hanoi)

(Baonghean.vn) - In the program of activities of typical advanced delegates studying and following the moral example of Ho Chi Minh in Hanoi, on May 18, the delegation visited the historical site K9 in Ba Vi district. Located next to the Da River, in Da Chong mountain, K9 is one of the special relics associated with President Ho Chi Minh from the time he was alive until he went to "meet the elders Karl Marx and Lenin".

On the way to K9, most of the members of the delegation had only heard about this sacred land. Hidden in the primeval forest, the houses where Uncle Ho and the Party Central Committee worked here, built in the 50s and 60s of the last century, are preserved in their original form.

According to Ms. Tran Thi Doan - Tour guide of the relic site: In May 1957, Uncle Ho visited Regiment 36 - Division 308 practicing on the Da River. He stopped to rest and have lunch on the hill, where there were 3 sharp rocks like spikes and spearheads arranged next to each other. Looking out at the Da River in front, he saw that this was a place of beautiful mountains and rivers, the river meandered, the scenery was beautiful, close to the people but far from the national highway. With the vision of a genius strategist, he suggested to his comrades to build this place as a Central base, to prevent the US imperialists from expanding their destructive war by air force to the North.

On the morning of February 23, 1958, Uncle Ho visited and reviewed the Da Chong area. After that, the General Department of Logistics of the Vietnam People's Army was assigned the task of building the Da Chong base. During the construction process, Uncle Ho visited and directly inspected many times. On March 15, 1960, the 2-storey house was completed and Uncle Ho attended the inauguration ceremony. From then on, this place was renamed "K9 Base Area" (abbreviated as K9).

During the 9 years (from 1960 to 1969), Uncle Ho and some comrades in the Politburo and the Army commanders came to work here many times. Notably, on September 20, 1964, Uncle Ho, comrade Pham Van Dong and some comrades in the Politburo had a meeting at K9. Uncle and his comrades discussed the international and domestic situation after the Gulf of Tonkin incident (August 5, 1964) and some issues related to people's air defense. Also at this place, Uncle Ho received many international guests. This was also the place where Uncle Ho's body was preserved from 1969 to 1975.
