(Baonghean.vn) - On the morning of August 4th, at the invitation of the National Assembly delegation of Nghe An province, the National Assembly delegation of Region 9 (Xieng Khouang province), Lao People's Democratic Republic, paid a visit and worked in Nghe An. The delegation was led by Comrade Bun Phieng Mun Pho Xay - Member of the Central Committee of the Party, Minister and Head of the Government Office, and National Assembly representative of Region 9.

Receiving and working with the delegation were Comrade Nguyen Duc Hien - Member of the Standing Committee of the National Assembly, Head of the People's Petition Committee of the Standing Committee of the National Assembly of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam; on the Nghe An side were: Major General Nguyen Sy Hoi, Deputy Commander of Military Region 4; Nguyen Xuan Son - Member of the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Council; Le Xuan Dai - Member of the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee; and Pham Van Tan - Head of the National Assembly Delegation of Nghe An province.

Before the working session, the delegation of the National Assembly of Zone 9, Xieng Khouang Province, Lao People's Democratic Republic, and the delegation of the National Assembly of Nghe An Province laid wreaths at the statue of President Ho Chi Minh in the square named after him. Laying wreaths before the spirit of President Ho Chi Minh, the delegation expressed their profound respect for the great figure of the international communist movement. He dedicated his entire life to the cause of Vietnamese national liberation and world peace. He founded the Indochinese Communist Party, the predecessor of the Communist Party of Vietnam and the Lao People's Revolutionary Party. He also contributed to fostering friendship between Vietnam and Laos.

During the working session, both sides held a seminar to exchange experiences on activities between the National Assembly delegation of Region 9, Xieng Khouang Province, and the National Assembly delegation of Nghe An Province. They discussed the activities of the Nghe An Provincial National Assembly delegation at the 13th National Assembly sessions, including voter outreach, citizen engagement, and interactions with relevant departments and agencies before and after National Assembly sessions. They also shared the contributions of the Nghe An National Assembly delegates to lawmaking and foreign affairs at National Assembly sessions. In addition, the Nghe An Provincial National Assembly delegation provided the Region 9 Xieng Khouang delegation with information on some aspects of Nghe An's socio-economic development in recent times.

At the meeting, the two delegations from the two provinces and countries agreed to continue implementing the contents of the agreement signed between the Border Delegation of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam and the Border Delegation of the Lao People's Democratic Republic in 2013 in Hanoi. They agreed to further strengthen comprehensive cooperation, with defense and security as the main focus. They also pledged to enhance trade, exchange of goods, and tourism development. The two provinces continued to request the governments of both countries to consider opening secondary border crossings at Huoi Phong, Tham Khop, and Ai Khe villages in Muong Ai commune, Ky Son district, Nghe An province, and at Xam Che and Loong Ho villages in Muong Ngoc district, Xieng Khouang province. The two provinces also committed to promoting the implementation of projects in Nghe An province supporting Xieng Khouang province to ensure timely completion. Furthermore, the two provinces committed to assisting in the training and development of human resources for Laos. Specifically, in the 2014-2015 academic year, Nghe An province will receive 20 people from Xieng Khouang province (5 officials and 15 high school graduates) to study Vietnamese for 10 months at Nghe An College of Education. The 16 students who have completed the Vietnamese language program, if eligible, will be selected to study at universities in Nghe An province.

Comrade Bun Phieng Mun Pho Xay, on behalf of the delegation, informed about some political, economic, and social situations in Xieng Khouang province, as well as exchanged views on the activities of the National Assembly delegation from Region 9. He also acknowledged and affirmed the special friendship between Nghe An and Xieng Khouang provinces in particular, and between the Vietnamese and Lao peoples in general, and pledged to do his utmost to nurture that friendship so that it may forever flourish and endure.

At the conclusion of the seminar, in a warm and friendly atmosphere, the two delegations exchanged commemorative gifts. On this occasion, Phan Van Quy, a Hero of the Armed Forces and Chairman of Thai Binh Duong Group JSC, and a member of the Nghe An National Assembly delegation, also presented gifts of gratitude to the National Assembly delegation from Region 9 of Xieng Khouang Province, as a former soldier who fought on the battlefields of Laos.
