The 'painful' stretch of road, riddled with potholes, in Dien Chau.
(Baonghean.vn) - Muddy in the rain, dusty in the sun - that's what's happening on the pothole-strewn inter-communal road section passing through the two communes of Dien Ngoc and Dien Bich (Dien Chau).

Arriving in Dien Ngoc commune (Dien Chau district) on the afternoon of November 8th, we observed hundreds of vehicles facing significant difficulties due to the severely degraded road. According to our observations, the road surface has sunk deeply, and the asphalt has peeled off, creating puddles in the middle of the road. This degraded section runs through Hong Yen hamlet (Dien Ngoc) and Hai Trung hamlet (Dien Bich).

According to residents, this situation has been occurring for the past few years. Due to deterioration, the road becomes a deep puddle on rainy days, while on sunny days it is covered in thick dust, causing difficulties for road users and posing a potential risk of accidents.
Locals still call this stretch of road the "road of suffering".
Ms. Hoang Thi Nhien from Dien Bich commune (Dien Chau district) expressed her frustration: “This road has been severely damaged since around April 2019. Every morning at 3 AM, many heavy trucks carrying stones travel on it. When it rains, water accumulates, forming puddles, making it very difficult and dangerous for people to travel. Recently, there was a case of a motorcyclist falling due to a wheel going over a sunken section, causing serious injury. We hope the local authorities will soon repair the road so that people can travel more conveniently.”

According to our investigation, in 2011, the People's Committee of Dien Chau district upgraded the road width to 7 meters, with a 5.5-meter asphalt surface, on the section from Dien Ngoc commune to Dien Kim commune. In 2015, a local enterprise invested over 10 billion VND to further upgrade and expand the nearly 1 km stretch of road, serving both the project and the local population. The road was put into use in 2016, but many sections have since deteriorated significantly.
This is an inter-communal road with a very high volume of traffic. Recently, the section passing through the commune has seriously deteriorated. The cause stems from several seafood processing facilities discharging wastewater onto the road, which accumulates over time, combined with heavy trucks passing through, causing damage to the road. During meetings with constituents, the commune and local people have repeatedly raised this issue with higher authorities, but it remains unresolved.
