Nghe An delegation won 8 medals at the national wrestling tournament
(Baonghean.vn) - After 2 days of exciting competition, Nghe An delegation won 8 medals of all kinds at the 20th National Youth and Junior Wrestling Championship in 2018.

The 20th National Youth and Ethnic Wrestling Championship 2018 was organized by the Department of Mass Sports and Physical Training, General Department of Sports and Physical Training in coordination with the Management Board of Ethnic Villages and the Cultural and Tourism Village of Vietnamese Ethnic Groups.
The tournament aims to encourage and promote the practice of traditional wrestling among the masses, especially the youth, to improve health, preserve and promote the nation's cultural and sports traditions; and meet the people's need to enjoy traditional sports.

The tournament took place from August 9 to 12, 2018 at Ethnic Village Square II, Vietnam Ethnic Culture and Tourism Village (Dong Mo - Son Tay - Hanoi). The tournament gathered more than 100 young and teenage wrestlers from 8 athlete delegations, including: Hanoi, Vinh Phuc, Bac Giang, People's Public Security, Thai Nguyen, Nghe An, Kinh Bac and Tuyen Quang Ethnic Wrestling Association.
Wrestlers compete for 14 sets of medals in 2 age groups: youth (12 - 15 years old), competing in 07 weight categories (30 - 55 kg); youth (16 - 18 years old), competing in 07 weight categories (30 - 64 kg).

Nghe An delegation had 9 athletes participating in the tournament. After 2 days of exciting competition, the delegation won 8 medals (2 Gold medals, 3 Silver medals, 3 Bronze medals). The 2 athletes who won Gold medals were: Hoang Van Tan, 60kg weight class and Nguyen Van The, 65kg weight class.
At the end of the tournament on August 12, with the achievements, Nghe An team ranked 3rd overall.
