A train carrying 50 fuel cars derailed and caught fire, causing a chemical leak in southern Russia on May 9.
The accident left one person missing and 27 injured, according to the Interfax news agency.
The accident occurred around 2 a.m. (local time) at the Belaya Kalitva railway station in the Rostov region. Approximately 2,700 residents living in the area near the station were evacuated. Evgeny Boevets, a spokesman for the North Caucasus Railways authority, said liquid propane from one of the tanks spilled out, flowing towards the locomotive and causing the fire.

Representatives from the local Emergency Management Department said 27 people suffered burns of varying degrees, including 11 severely burned and one in critical condition. The fire was brought under control around 6 a.m., after 190 firefighters worked tirelessly at the scene. At one point, the blaze had spread across an area of 1,500 square meters.
"We can now confirm that 27 people were injured in the accident, 11 of whom have been hospitalized," a Rostov Health Department spokesperson told Interfax.
