Youth Union of Bac A Bank started construction of a new school for students in Hoa Binh
(Baonghean.vn) - On July 4, the Vietnam Stature Fund (VSF), the National Volunteer Center, the Youth Union of Bac A Commercial Joint Stock Bank (BAC A BANK) and the Youth Union of Hoa Binh province started construction of the Bua Coc school at Suoi Nanh Primary and Secondary School (Nanh Nghe commune, Da Bac district).

Two standard classrooms will be built here, this will be the first primary and secondary school in Bua Coc, a resettlement area for people severely affected by the historic flood in 2017. With a total construction cost of 345,000,000 VND, the school is expected to be completed and put into use after 1.5 months of construction.
After the 2017 flood, despite receiving government support to stabilize life in Bua Coc hamlet, 76 households with 269 people of Muong and Tay ethnic groups still faced many difficulties. In particular, due to the terrain prone to landslides and limited economic and infrastructure conditions, children in the hamlet had to study at neighboring schools.
After receiving connection information and survey images from VSF, BAC A BANK's Youth Union raised VND 270,000,000 from union members and staff through the fundraising activity of selling uniforms. In addition, the For Vietnamese Stature Fund raised an additional VND 79,990,000 for the project from the community through the online fundraising platform Give Now.

According to Mr. Doan Van Tuan - Director of Planning and Management Information Department and Secretary of the Youth Union of Bac A Commercial Joint Stock Bank, BAC A BANK aims at the motto "for people" and shares social responsibility through contributing and sponsoring tens of billions of VND for social security activities such as building charity houses, schools, granting scholarships to students in difficult circumstances, etc.
“With the Bua Coc school project, we hope to work with VSF to build a school to contribute to creating a better future for our beloved students, thereby contributing to the development of the country in general and Da Bac district, Hoa Binh province in particular,” Mr. Tuan added.

Despite the harsh July heat, the children of Bua Coc hamlet were present at the ceremony early. Nhu Quynh (8 years old) shared: “Every day, my grandparents take me to school because my parents have to work in the fields. The school is 8-9 kilometers from my house, so I can’t go by myself.” With the new school, the children in the hamlet will have a less difficult path to knowledge.

Mr. Bui Van Phuc - Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Nanh Nghe Commune said: "Most of the households living in Bua Coc hamlet are in difficult circumstances. We are very happy that the school started construction today, which will contribute to ensuring conditions for children to study. We sincerely thank the sponsors and partners for sharing."
It is expected that after its inauguration, Bua Coc school will be ready to welcome 37 local primary and secondary school students for the 2023-2024 school year.

Bua Coc is the third school that VSF and the Youth Union of Bac A Commercial Joint Stock Bank have jointly implemented. Previously, the two units have worked together to build two kindergarten/primary schools in Tham Pung (Tuan Giao district, Dien Bien province) and Ban Chang (Vi Xuan district, Ha Giang province). With funding from the Youth Union of Bac A Commercial Joint Stock Bank and forms of fundraising from the community, the projects aim to improve the learning conditions of children in the highlands, contribute to improving social security and support the locality to achieve sustainable development goals.
