Doan Thien An crowned Miss Grand Vietnam 2022

Long An beauty Doan Thien An - 22 years old, student at Ho Chi Minh City University of Industry - was crowned Miss Grand Vietnam, on the evening of October 1.

She beat 49 other contestants in the final round held at Phu Tho Stadium, Ho Chi Minh City. Thousands of spectators cheered when Thien An was announced as the winner.

The new beauty queen received the crown from Miss Grand International Nguyen Thuc Thuy Tien. The crown is named afterThe Wings of Beauty, made of 18K gold, studded with 1,522 white zirconia and 42 emeralds. In addition, she also received the subsidiary awardThe contestant gave the best presentation on peace.

Mr. Bao Hung, 48 years old, Thien An's father, and many relatives were present to support her. Mr. Hung said: "I am happy that my daughter has achieved high results. From childhood to adulthood, whatever she does, Thien An always tries her best."

Doan Thien An is 1.75 meters tall, with body measurements of 88.5 - 66 - 98 cm. She said that many people "body shamed" her because she weighed 75 kg. She tried to lose 15 kg to compete in the beauty pageant. From the first rounds, Thien An's catwalk skills were not highly appreciated. After many weeks of training with experts and coaches of the program, she gradually improved. In the first round of the competition, she was not an outstanding contestant, nor did she create an effect on beauty forums, however, in the final night, she shone through most of the competition.

In the behavioral round for the Top 5, Doan Thien An received a question from judge - Miss Ha Kieu Anh: "Most young people today are considered to be indifferent and apathetic, what do you think about this?". She said: "Indifference and apathy are emotions that exist in everyone, not just young people. Instead of criticizing, ask why they are like that. I think we should help them understand that family is the foundation for nurturing love."

The new Miss Grand Vietnam 2022 has three days of rest after being crowned, before leaving for Indonesia on October 4 to compete in Miss Grand International 2022.

At the final night, 50 girls competed in the name calling, swimsuit, peace presentation, evening gown, and behavior contests. The first runner-up was Che Nguyen Quynh Chau. The beauty was born in 1994, from Lam Dong. Quynh Chau is 1.75 meters tall, with measurements of 83-60-90 cm. She is a familiar face in showbiz through her roles as a model, MC, and actress in film projects such asThe Godfather, Miss Gangster,Apple tree in bloom...

Quynh Chau wore a design by Cong Tri with a wide, fluttering skirt and chiffon material with a slit when performing in the evening gown. In the top 5 interview, she received a question from judge Minh Tu: "There is a view that today's youth follow international trends and forget domestic values, what do you think?". She said: "I am also a young person, having been exposed to many cultures. However, I believe that we are integrating, not dissolving. When I performed in the cultural and national costume competition, I wore a design with the image of the Vietnamese flag, and was cheered a lot. I know it was because of the colors of the flag, not because of me."

The second runner-up is Tran Tuyet Nhu, from Ho Chi Minh City. She is 1.7 meters tall, with measurements of 82.5-61-89 cm, born in 1995, from Thai Binh. Right from the first rounds of the competition, she brought an energetic image, confident that she would "transform" after her achievement in the top 16 of Miss Universe Vietnam 2022 in May. Tuyet Nhu's advantage is her beautiful body and attractive stage performance skills because she was a student of Vo Hoang Yen. The remaining two girls in the top 5 were also awarded the titles of 4th and 5th runner-up, respectively Tran Nguyen Minh Thu and Ngo Thi Quynh Mai.

The final night lasted for 5 hours, livestreamed on the contest's fanpage, led by two MCs Thien Vu and Miss Luong Thuy Linh. At the beginning, the top 50 performed together, calling out their names and places of birth in costumes by designer Nguyen Tien Truyen. After many mixed opinions on the name calling in the semi-finals, in the final night, most of the contestants restrained their tone, gestures, and pronounced more clearly.

In addition to the main competitions, the stage was lively with musical performances by singers Dong Nhi, Bich Phuong, Mono... Before that, the red carpet took place with the appearance of beauties such as Huynh Nguyen Mai Phuong, Phuong Anh, Phuong Nhi, Huong Giang, Nguyen Thi Loan... However, the program lasted until past midnight, with many brand advertisements, which was commented by the audience as being long and tiring to watch.

Miss Grand Vietnam 2022 kicked off at the end of August, aiming to find contestants for Miss Grand International - one of the six major beauty pageants in the world. In its first edition, the contest was criticized by the audience for being too exaggerated in the contestants' names and self-introduction, continuing to spark controversy about the quality of current domestic beauty pageants.
