The flood in July left many losses for the people of Western Nghe An. From the capital Hanoi, people with hearts turned to their homeland made a journey with many essential goods to support the people affected by the natural disaster. That journey carried the love of Nghe An people far from home and friends from all over the country.

The volunteer group, initiated by Ms. Xuan Huong, a Nghe An native living far from home, closely coordinated with the provincial Fatherland Front and other localities to travel hundreds of kilometers to reach the communes of Muong Xen, Muong Tip, and Bac Ly (former Ky Son district).

On August 3, 4, and 5, the delegation presented gifts worth VND110 million in cash and more than 10 tons of essential goods worth about VND300 million to people affected by natural disasters in the communes. The gifts included clothes, books, blankets, rice, instant noodles and many other necessary items, helping people in flooded areas quickly stabilize their lives.

In particular, the shipment also carried the heart of Lieutenant General Nguyen Quoc Thuoc. In addition to 30 million VND transferred to the relief account of the provincial Fatherland Front, the 100-year-old general sent a meaningful box of goods to the officers and soldiers of Bac Ly Border Guard Station.

The noble gesture of Lieutenant General Nguyen Quoc Thuoc and the kindness of the Hanoians and Nghe An people living far from home once again multiplied the tradition of mutual love of the nation. The trip was not only a material support but also a spiritual encouragement, adding strength to the people and soldiers in the disaster-affected areas to overcome difficulties and continue to stand firm at the Fatherland's border.
