Mountain commune delegation helps people destroy 150kg of golden apple snails that harm rice
(Baonghean.vn) - Faced with the increasingly widespread situation of golden apple snails harming spring rice, the Youth Union Executive Committee of Thach Son commune (Anh Son) mobilized over 60 youth union members to help farmers destroy snails.

In the spring crop of 2018, Thach Son commune planted nearly 80 hectares of rice. Currently, the rice plants are in the tillering period, but 1/3 of the area has been damaged by golden apple snails. Concentrated in the Bau area of Hamlet 6, Binh area of Hamlet 4, Bau Ha area of Hamlet 7 and Cua Thanh area of Hamlet 1.

The appearance of golden apple snails has caused damage to farmers' rice fields. Although farmers have used many methods to destroy them, such as spraying pesticides and collecting them, they have not been able to completely eradicate the golden apple snails because this snail species lays eggs and reproduces very quickly. After a campaign, the Youth Union of Thach Son commune collected more than 150 kg of golden apple snails that harm rice.
