(Baonghean.vn) - Currently, industrial property registration activities in Nghe An are still too few, unstable and not highly developed.

Implementing the project to support businesses in Nghe An to register intellectual property and trademarks, on the morning of October 31, VCCI Nghe An Branch organized a workshop on Building and developing business brands. Attending were representatives of relevant departments, businesses, and brand consultants.

Nghe An currently has 811 protected objects with 636 trademarks, 53 designs, 7 utility solutions and 10 inventions. Compared to the whole country, the number of objects granted protection certificates by Nghe An enterprises is ranked as average, but compared to provinces and cities such as Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, Lam Dong, the rate is too small, and very few enterprises use the brand effectively.

The investigation results show that the registration of industrial property rights in Nghe An is still too little compared to the economic activities of the province, not stable and not highly developed, the rate of applications and granting of certificates of industrial property rights protection in the province compared to the whole country is still low, only 0.46%. The subjects of industrial property rights are not registered and protected evenly, especially inventions account for a very small proportion.

Sharing at the workshop on business awareness around this issue, Ms. Le Thi Phuong, Head of the Department of Information Technology - Science and Technology Statistics (Provincial Center for Science, Technology and Informatics Information) said that currently, businesses are not interested in registering trademarks due to limited awareness and do not really consider trademark registration as a tool for sustainable development.

"Many businesses still lack information about intellectual property protection laws in general, and trademark registration in particular. Businesses still take this issue lightly because they have not fully anticipated the difficulties and shortcomings that their businesses may encounter in the business process when not registering ownership rights, as well as not clearly understanding the benefits that their businesses will enjoy," Ms. Phuong said.

At the workshop, some businesses proposed that the VCCI Branch in Nghe An and relevant agencies increase support for businesses in terms of procedures and policy mechanisms when businesses register intellectual property and trademarks; have solutions to shorten the time for granting trademark registration certificates to facilitate businesses as well as support businesses in training, coaching on building governance and promoting brands on media and building e-commerce websites.

Relevant authorities strictly check copyright infringement and counterfeit goods in all fields, and propagate to businesses to raise awareness about intellectual property and trademark issues...
