Japanese enterprise supports million-dollar garlic export production project in Nghe An
(Baonghean.vn) - From the success of the pilot Japanese garlic growing model on Ky Son land (Nghe An), Farmer's Co-op (FC) in Kagawa province, Japan connected with Nghe An province and JICA Japan to support the expansion of Japanese garlic varieties in Ky Son, Nghe An.
On the morning of March 19, the Provincial People's Committee had a meeting with Farmer's Co-op (FC) in Kagawa Prefecture, Japan to discuss a plan to implement a project to support garlic production in Japan.
Attending the meeting were Mr. Yagi Kazuhiro - Chief Advisor of the Technical Cooperation Project on Agricultural Development Planning in Nghe An; Mr. Kondo Takashi - Director of Farmer's Co-op Company in Kagawa Prefecture, Japan.
On the side of Nghe An province, there were comrade Dinh Viet Hong - Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee; leaders of provincial departments, branches and sectors.

Japanese garlic variety was tested on nearly 500 plants in Na Ngoi commune (Ky Son) through the Technical Cooperation Project on Agricultural Planning and Development in Nghe An supported by JICA Japan and planted at Youth Volunteer Team 10 and a household in Na Ngoi commune, Ky Son.
After the first harvest, through testing the quality and productivity indicators of the product, Japanese experts officially concluded that this garlic variety can grow well in Ky Son district.

From the success of the pilot Japanese garlic growing model on Ky Son land (Nghe An), Farmer's Co-op Company (FC) in Kagawa province, Japan connected with Nghe An province and JICA Japan to support the expansion of Japanese garlic varieties in Ky Son, Nghe An.
The project has a total investment of 1 million USD to expand the garlic growing area for seed and export to Japan in Ky Son district. The project will be implemented over a period of 3 years.

At the meeting, representatives of the Technical Cooperation Project on Agricultural Planning and Development in Nghe An of the Japanese organization JICA, Farmer's Co-op Company (FC) in Kagawa Prefecture, Japan and Nghe An Province exchanged and discussed the project implementation plan.
Mr. Kondo Takashi - Director of Farmer's Co-op Company proposed that in order for the project to be successfully implemented, the company will train and transfer science and technology to Nghe An engineers in Japan to directly implement the project in Ky Son. The company hopes that Nghe An province will support and cooperate with the company to complete the processes and procedures so that JICA can approve the project support policy.

On behalf of the provincial leaders, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Dinh Viet Hong expressed his gratitude for the attention of JICA and Farmer's Co-op Company of Japan for supporting Nghe An province in agricultural development.
Nghe An province will assign the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development to advise the Provincial People's Committee to establish a Project Management Board. At the same time, the province will direct relevant departments, branches, sectors and localities to successfully implement the project. The province commits to arranging counterpart funds in addition to JICA's support capital so that the project can be implemented soon.

In addition, the province hopes that Farmer's Co-op and JICA will continue to support the implementation of models for growing varieties of plants such as persimmons and other Japanese plants to promote the potential of the mountainous district of Ky Son in particular and Western Nghe An in general.
