The Information and Communications sector generated revenue exceeding 3,900 billion VND.
(Baonghean.vn) - Amidst general difficulties, the Information and Communications sector has strived to overcome challenges and achieve its set targets, with total revenue estimated at 3933.5 billion VND.
On the morning of January 2nd, 2014, the Information and Communications sector held a conference to summarize information and communications work in 2013 and implement tasks for 2014. Attending the conference were representatives from the Ministry of Information and Communications, Mr. Huynh Thanh Dien, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, leaders of departments, agencies, postal, telecommunications, and information technology enterprises, publishing, printing, and distribution establishments, and the People's Committees of districts, cities, and towns.

In 2013, the province's economy faced many difficulties and challenges, but with the timely guidance of the Ministry of Information and Communications and the Provincial People's Committee, the close coordination of departments, agencies, and district-level authorities; and the unity and efforts of all officials and employees in the sector, the Department of Information and Communications successfully completed its political tasks and work plan for 2013, contributing to the socio-economic development of the province.
State management from the provincial to the district level continued to be implemented promptly and effectively by the Department across all five areas: journalism, publishing, postal services, telecommunications, and information technology. The Department also strengthened its direction to promote the application and development of information technology in state agencies throughout the province, such as organizing 11 online provincial briefing conferences with 24 connection points, linking the Provincial People's Committee and the Provincial Party Committee with 100% of the People's Committees of districts, cities, and towns; putting into operation 3 online level 3 public services; and the province's ICT readiness index in 2013 ranked 7th out of 63 provinces and cities.
Major projects of the Ministry of Information and Communications are being prioritized for implementation, such as: the National Target Program to bring information to the grassroots level; and the project to improve computer literacy and public internet access.
In 2013, telecommunications and information technology enterprises built 3,670 BTS stations; over 12,000 km of fiber optic cable reaching 100% of district centers and post offices; 404 community post offices out of 480 communes, wards, and towns, with 100% of communes now having postal service points, meeting national technical standards for public postal services... Total revenue from postal, telecommunications, and information technology in 2013 was estimated at VND 3,933.5 billion, reaching 100.77% of the plan set for 2013; estimated tax contributions to the state budget reached VND 210 billion.

At the conference, representatives from agencies and units such as Nghe An Telecommunications, Viettel Nghe An, the Provincial Post Office, Nghe An Newspaper, and the People's Committees of the districts presented papers on the development of information technology, public telecommunications programs, and the application of information technology in administrative reform. A representative from Nghe An Newspaper presented a paper on the distribution of information to the press, the handling of information reported by media outlets, and the management of the press in the province.
The Department of Information and Communications awarded Certificates of Commendation to Nghe An Newspaper and Nghe An Radio and Television Station.

In his address at the conference, Mr. Huynh Thanh Dien, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, commended the remarkable achievements of the information and communication sector over the past year. Looking ahead, the sector needs to continue its efforts, boost investment in technology, and attract strong IT and communication corporations to develop in Nghe An with the goal of making Nghe An a regional IT hub, concretizing the contents of Resolution 26, and contributing to the socio-economic development of the province.
On this occasion, Comrade Huynh Thanh Dien and the leaders of the Department of Information and Communications presented emulation titles from the Ministry of Information and Communications, the Provincial People's Committee, and the Provincial Department of Information and Communications to collectives and individuals with outstanding achievements in the sector.
