Exchanging 100 USD at a gold shop, fined 90 million VND
The person who exchanged 100 USD was fined 90 million VND, and the gold shop was fined 180 million VND for exchanging foreign currency without a license.

Accordingly, Mr. Nguyen Ca Re (38 years old, residing in An Hoa ward, Ninh Kieu district, Can Tho city), who brought 100 USD to exchange at Cai Khe commercial center (Ninh Kieu district), was fined 90 million VND for the act of "buying and selling foreign currency at an organization not licensed to exchange foreign currency".
The owner of the facility that received Mr. Re's 100 USD exchange, Nhan Dat Jewelry Production and Trade Company Limited, was also fined 180 million VND by the People's Committee of Can Tho City for exchanging foreign currency without a license.
At the same time, the authorities also confiscated evidence of 100 USD and 2,260,000 VND.

Previously, Mr. Re was caught red-handed by the authorities after exchanging 100 USD at a jewelry business in Cai Khe commercial center, Can Tho city.
Mr. Re said that he works as an electrician and earns just over 3 million VND per month. He was given the $100 USD by a friend. When he took it to a gold shop at Cai Khe shopping center to exchange, he was ticketed and severely punished as above.
