According to the indictment, at the end of July 2018, Dang Quang Dai met a Mong man (name and specific background unknown). Dai gave this man 220 million VND to buy drugs. The Mong man received the money and promised to deliver the drugs to Dai the following evening.
The following evening, this person contacted Dai by phone and told him to go to a street near his house to receive drugs. When Dang Quang Dai came out, he saw a blue bag. He took it into the house to check and found 1 package of crystal meth, 7 packages of heroin, and 2 bags of pink pills. Dai kept all of the drugs in the house.
At around 10am on August 27, 2018, Dang Van Hanh called Dai to buy drugs for 12.5 million VND. When the two sides agreed, Hanh took a taxi to give Dai the money and receive the "goods".
At 4 p.m. on August 30, while Hanh and a man of unknown origin were staying at a motel in Dien Thanh commune (Dien Chau district), the Drug Crime Investigation Police Department's working group discovered in Hanh's shirt pocket a plastic bag containing white crystals, identified as drugs. Hanh said she bought it from Dai.
Conducting an emergency search of Dai's residence, authorities seized eight black plastic bags identified as drugs weighing 26.66 grams of heroin and 805.97 grams of methamphetamine.
At court, the defendants admitted to committing the crimes as stated in the indictment. The panel of judges determined that the defendants’ actions were dangerous to society. The defendants’ crimes were classified as dangerous recidivism, which is an aggravating circumstance.
The People's Court sentenced Dang Quang Dai to 18 years in prison for illegal drug trafficking, and defendant Dang Van Hanh to 7 years in prison for illegal drug possession.
