Following the Champions League, the Europa League continues to bring disappointment to England. Not a single representative from English football has reached the quarter-finals of any European Cup this season.

In the second leg of the Europa League round of 16, Everton suffered a heavy 2-5 defeat against Dynamo Kyiv, thus being eliminated from the competition despite a 2-1 victory in the first leg. A series of defensive errors cost the Merseyside club dearly.

In the first half, hosts Kyiv led 3-1, forcing Everton to push forward in attack. Quick counter-attacks resulted in two more goals for the Ukrainian team in the second half. In the 82nd minute, Phil Jagielka scored to reduce the deficit, bringing a disappointing end to the day.

Previously, both Liverpool and Tottenham were eliminated in the Europa League round of 32. For the first time in 20 years, England had no team competing in the quarter-finals of a European Cup.

Italy had five representatives in the round of 16, but only two made it to the quarter-finals: Napoli and Fiorentina. Rafael Benitez's team overcame Dinamo Moscow with a 3-1 aggregate score. Meanwhile, Fiorentina defeated fellow Italian team Roma 4-1 after a 1-1 draw in the first leg. Inter suffered a heavy 2-5 defeat to Wolfsburg, while Torino lost 1-2 to Zenit.

The draw for the Europa League quarter-finals will take place tonight, March 20th, following the Champions League draw.

Eight teams have qualified for the Europa League quarter-finals:

Fiorentina (Italy)
Napoli (Italy)
Dynamo Kyiv (Ukraine)
Dnipro (Ukraine)
Zenit (Russia)
Club Brugge (Belgium)
Wolfsburg (Germany)
Sevilla (Spain)
