On the afternoon of November 2, Lien Viet Post Joint Stock Commercial Bank (LPBank) signed a comprehensive cooperation agreement with the Football Academy and Hoang Anh Gia Lai Football Club.
With the support of LPBank, the representative of Hoang Anh Gia Lai Group announced the renaming of the Academy and Club to LPBank Football Academy - the club and LPBank Football Club - the club. This is a concrete step to realize the comprehensive cooperation agreement signed between Hoang Anh Gia Lai Group and LPBank previously.
This is the first time since joining the V-League after more than 20 years that Mr. Duc's team has changed its name. Speaking at the signing ceremony, Mr. Duc said that football is very complicated and expensive. After 22 years, he said he has invested no less than 2,000 billion VND in this sport.
"I am 62 years old this year, I can steer the team for another 10 years but I cannot continue to manage the team when I am over 70 years old. However, I want the team and the academy to exist forever, so I think it is time for a change, to find a partner with clear and stable financial capacity to develop the club and Hoang Anh Gia Lai Academy together," said Mr. Duc.
Mr. Duc also hopes that with the solid support from LPBank, the Academy and LPBank - Hoang Anh Gia Lai Football Club will have strong and professional development steps, soon conquer the peak after many years of waiting and will strive for the future of Vietnamese football.
It is known that through sponsorship of the Football Academy, LPBank will provide stable financial resources for the Academy and the club, empowering young football talents, helping the country's sports reach international standards. At the same time, the Academy and the club also contribute to promoting LPBank's image and products and services through the large football fan community.
Mr. Ho Nam Tien - General Director of LPBank said that the new brand LPBank - Hoang Anh Gia Lai will continue to grow, LPBank - Hoang Anh Gia Lai Football Academy will truly be a cradle that successfully trains many talents, making great contributions to the development of professional football in Vietnam.
The Bank also committed to accompanying the Academy in its journey to nurture young football talents.
Previously in October, LPBank and Hoang Anh Gia Lai Group (Hoang Anh Gia Lai Group) announced the successful signing of a comprehensive cooperation agreement, thereby aiming to promote competitive advantages, work together for the goal of sustainable development of the community, diversify business activities, bring safe products, a green and clean environment and added values to customers.
"Hoang Anh Gia Lai Football Club and the youth football academy will change their names by adding the sponsor's name," the leader of Hoang Anh Gia Lai Football Club confirmed to VTC News on the afternoon of November 2.
After 20 years of competing in the V-League, Hoang Anh Gia Lai Football Club officially changed its name. For many years, Mr. Duc has faced financial difficulties and could not maintain the ambition of the mountain town football team in the V-League. Mr. Duc hopes that this source of funding can help the group as well as the team overcome the difficult period.
Bau Duc said: "With a solid foundation from the new sponsor, Hoang Anh Gia Lai Football Academy and Club will have strong and professional development steps, soon conquer the peak after many years of expectation and will strive for the future of Vietnamese football".
At the end of the 2022 season, Hoang Anh Gia Lai said goodbye to a series of players such as Cong Phuong, Xuan Truong, Van Toan, Van Thanh and Hong Duy.
Among the talented players that Hoang Anh Gia Lai - Arsenal JMG trained, only Tuan Anh and Van Son are still with Hoang Anh Gia Lai. In addition, Chau Ngoc Quang, Dinh Thanh Binh and Tran Minh Vuong are the pillars who are still determined to stay with the Pleiku team.
The appearance of a new sponsor will partly help Hoang Anh Gia Lai solve the immediate financial problem. But for coach Kiatisak and his team to return to the image of a championship candidate, it will be a very long road.
In the 2023/2024 V-League, Hoang Anh Gia Lai has only got 1 point after the first 2 rounds. They have just replaced foreign players when central defender Pape Diakite was removed from the list at the last minute. His replacement is striker Jhon Cley - V-League's top scorer. The Brazilian player is on loan from Hanoi Police Club. In the immediate future, coach Kiatisak will have to make efforts to help Hoang Anh Gia Lai Club overcome the early stages of the season with many challenges. After that, the mountain town team can think about quality contracts in the mid-season transfer period./.
