The computer rescue volunteer team of the Faculty of Information Technology, Vinh University organizes computer repairs 1-2 times a month at the school. |
Volunteer computer rescue activities are really practical for students, because they not only help them have learning tools but also save a significant amount of money. Nguyen Thi Hoang Mai - 3rd year student, Faculty of English Pedagogy, said: "My computer often has software errors, sometimes data loss, which greatly affects my studies. But luckily, every time my computer has an error or is damaged, I receive enthusiastic help, advice, and repairs from my friends in the computer rescue team. Thanks to their help, we save money on computer repair and maintenance." Nguyen Van Hung - Student of the Faculty of Construction said that his major often requires the use of computers as a support tool, so the rescue team becomes his "savior" in situations where the computer is faulty and needs immediate repair. He often contacts his friends for advice or repairs when necessary.
Regularly organizing activities 1-2 times a month, each volunteer day, the "Computer Rescue" team has supported and repaired about 80-90 computers for students. Being attached to the "Computer Rescue" team since the first days of its establishment, Nguyen Thanh Nhan - Student of class 54, Faculty of Information Technology shared: "Studying information technology, having expertise in this field, we really want to share our knowledge and understanding to help other students. I know that there are many students in the countryside with difficult circumstances, so free computer repair not only helps them have tools to study more effectively but also reduces the burden of study costs. For us, it is both a joy and a way to accumulate more knowledge, learn experience and necessary skills to become more mature".
The upcoming direction of the "Computer Rescue" team is to recruit more members who are both voluntary and have professional knowledge to improve the effectiveness of volunteer activities. The team will also expand its activities at the second campus of Vinh University in the near future. Sharing about the effectiveness of the Computer Rescue Team's activities, teacher Tran Cao Thang - Student Manager of the Faculty of Information Technology said: Through the team's activities, students are more aware of self-exploration and creativity to improve their professional knowledge. These are also effective practice sessions that help students accumulate knowledge and skills very effectively. In addition, this volunteer activity also helps students realize their practical contributions to the community, thereby encouraging and spreading the spirit of volunteering among young people. There are some members who have grown up from the team's volunteer activities and after graduating and going to work, they are still very enthusiastic in participating, or supporting funding, human resources, components... to help the team operate. Volunteer activities focusing on expertise and training fields like this need to be expanded to both promote the professional strengths of volunteers and meet the essential needs of the community."
The "Computer Rescue" team of the Faculty of Information Technology was established in 2013. With the spirit of learning and practical experience, initially, a number of students in the faculty established an online computer repair team. The team installed remote computer control software to provide quick support, meeting the needs of repairing, installing, and maintaining computers of students in the school. In addition, the team also went to students' homes to directly install and troubleshoot computers according to their requests. With the increasing needs of a large number of students, after only more than two months of operation, the group decided to establish a "Computer Rescue" team operating directly at the school. Up to now, the team has more than 20 official members, operating regularly. After more than two years, the team's volunteer activities have spread throughout the student community. In addition to students in Vinh University, many students from other schools such as Vinh Medical University, University of Technology 3... also often come to the team for help. |
