(Baonghean.vn) - When she learned that Thuan had placed explosives in her house, Nhung insisted on taking him somewhere else. But when she was hired to transport more than 1.2 tons of explosives for the above subject for 500,000 VND, Nhung agreed.

On May 12, Nghe An Provincial People's Court opened a first-instance criminal trial of defendant Nguyen Dinh Nhung (59 years old), residing in Quynh Vinh commune, Hoang Mai town, for the crime of "Illegal storage and transportation of explosives”.

Nhung and Le Thac Thuan are cousins. On December 1, 2020, Nhung received a call from Thuan asking to send some goods to her house. Nhung asked "what goods" and Thuan said "prohibited goods, drugs". Knowing that it was explosives, Nhung replied: "Uncle, take it somewhere else, don't kill me".

The next morning, Nhung went down to the kitchen and found two bags of snake carcasses containing explosives under the bed. At this time, Nhung called Thuan to ask him to move the explosives out of her house. Thuan agreed, promised to move them out that night and asked Nhung to move the "goods" for 500,000 VND. Nhung agreed.

At 5:00 p.m. the same day, Thuan brought a homemade trailer to Nhung's house to load the explosive containers on the vehicle. Then, Nhung followed Thuan with 2 foam boxes, and on the way, she also loaded 3 more foam boxes with a total weight of 122.7 kg of industrial explosives. When Nhung arrived at village 9, Quynh Vinh commune, she was discovered and caught red-handed by the police.

Searching Nhung's residence, police seized an additional 8.3 kg of industrial explosives and 31 meters of fuse.

The investigation agency determined that Nguyen Dinh Nhung was responsible for illegally storing and transporting explosives with a volume of 131 kg of industrial explosives and 31 meters of slow-burning fuse.

At the trial, defendant Nhung admitted to the crime. The defendant expressed remorse and asked for a reduced sentence.

Considering the defendant’s actions were particularly dangerous, the defendant knew that explosives were strictly prohibited by law but still transported and stored them, demonstrating disregard for the law. Considering the entire case, the panel sentenced Nguyen Dinh Nhung to 15 years in prison.

Regarding the man named Thuan, the investigation agency has conducted verification but Thuan was not present in the locality, so the authorities have separated the case into another one to handle later.
