Thanh Hoa Construction Corporation No. 1 is constructing the N5 road in Nghi Thuan commune, Nghi Loc district.

The N5 road in the Southeast Economic Zone is of paramount importance in attracting investment, and recently the province commenced a project to build a road connecting the N5 road in the Southeast Economic Zone to Hoa Son - Do Luong and Tan Long - Tan Ky. This will form a transportation route connecting the Southeast Economic Zone, Cua Lo deep-water port, and the western economic region of the province, contributing to increased cargo capacity and serving the transportation needs of raw materials and products from industrial zones and factories. In particular, it will serve the transportation of cement for Song Lam Cement Plant (Do Luong) and Song Lam 2 Cement Plant (Anh Son).

Due to the lack of a proper drainage solution, serious landslides have occurred in hamlets 9 and 10 of Nghi Thuan commune.

Given its significant importance, the N5 road is currently being constructed with focused effort by contractors. In hamlets 9 and 10 of Nghi Thuan commune, Nghi Loc district, the N5 road is being constructed by the Thanh Hoa Construction Corporation No. 1. However, during the implementation process, the contractor has not accelerated the progress and, more importantly, the drainage plan is unsuitable, causing frustration among the local population.

Mr. Ha Van Thuc, from Hamlet 9, Nghi Thuan Commune, said: “It has been raining heavily these past few days, and during the construction of the N5 road, construction materials, especially the large volume of soil, were not handled promptly. Therefore, when heavy rains came, the increased water flow altered the river course, leading to landslides. Particularly during the three days of heavy rain, the water eroded some crops and land in the hamlet, affecting the lives of the people.”

Currently, it is the rainy and stormy season, so the investor (Southeast Economic Zone Management Board) and the construction unit need to effectively manage and ensure progress, avoiding any impact on the lives of the people.
