The 'golden' hands of a disabled girl
(Baonghean.vn) – Paralyzed in both legs, bedridden for nearly 30 years, but Sam Thi Giang in Thai Co Hoa Tien village, Quy Chau has skillful hands for embroidering dresses, famous for her brocade.
From the moment she was born, Sam Thi Giang was not as lucky as other children because her legs were paralyzed. Although her family took her to many places for treatment, the doctors all shook their heads in frustration. Giang's parents put aside all the pain to try to both work and take care of their disabled daughter.

When she reached school age, seeing her friends going to school, Giang felt the desire to learn. She asked her parents to let her go to school.
Giang's mother, who was a kindergarten teacher at the time, felt sorry for her disadvantaged daughter so every day she woke up very early, carried her daughter on her back and walked more than 3km, wading through streams to take her daughter to school.
Time passed quickly, Giang also finished primary school. Although he still wanted to continue studying, but feeling sorry for his mother's thin shoulders and father's gray hair, Giang asked his parents to stop studying.
Since the day she quit school, Giang has been lying on her bed, thinking about her unfulfilled dream. Looking at her crippled legs and weak hands, she cried again.
However, seeing the daily hardships of his parents, the love of his family and villagers made Giang think more optimistically and happily. Giang thought that he was luckier than many people because his hands could still move. Although they were not as flexible as normal people, he could still do something with these hands.
Hoa Tien Village (Chau Tien) is a Thai village famous for its brocade weaving. It can be said that weaving and embroidering Thai skirts is a traditional occupation of women here. Giang thought she would start working with her hands in the embroidery of skirts.

With her weak hands, the first few days holding a needle were extremely difficult for Giang. The needles often made her hands bleed, but she refused to give up.
Giang practiced and massaged her hands at the same time (because Giang's wrist bones were very weak and her fingers were not flexible, so it was difficult to hold the needle). After only 1 year of perseverance, Giang had her first products.
In the following years, when she became familiar with embroidery, her products became more numerous and more sophisticated, and were known and ordered by many people. Giang said that in previous years, when she was still healthy and had few illnesses, she could embroider 3 Thai skirts a month, and on average, each skirt sold for 700,000 VND.
Giang used the money she earned to help her parents raise her youngest sister who was studying at Nghe An Pedagogical College at that time. For Giang, that was her greatest joy and happiness.
Now, although her health has somewhat declined, Giang still tries to stick with needle and thread every day to complete products for customers. Currently, on average every 2 months she produces 3 to 4 products, earning nearly 3 million VND.
Giang's embroidery products are considered by customers to be works of passion and sophistication. Therefore, they conquer even the most demanding customers. Giang's orders, therefore, are increasing day by day.
In addition to doing embroidery, in her free time, Giang also helps her family's children with their homework, plays with them, and teaches them good things and right things in life.

Sometimes, Giang also wishes she had a small family, a husband and children. But then, Giang immediately reminds herself to be more realistic, content and love reality.
Her determination to overcome her fate has become a shining example not only in this ancient Thai Hoa Tien village but also spread to many places when tourists come to visit the brocade craft village, they know the disabled girl who has overcome herself to live a more meaningful life in this society.
