Dialogue to contribute ideas on passenger transport flow on the Northern route

Participating in the dialogue were representatives of the Provincial Transport Association and 31 businesses representing transport enterprises in the Northern provinces and operating intra-provincial routes along National Highway 7 and National Highway 48.

Vinh North Bus Station currently has 150 vehicles operating on 15 inter-provincial routes to 28 northern provinces and districts on National Highway 7 and National Highway 48 within the province. However, after stopping passenger bus operations at Vinh market bus station and banning passenger bus routes into the city center, the province built a traffic diversion plan for new passenger vehicles, Vinh North Bus Station and passenger transport businesses, and bus companies faced many difficulties.

According to the reflection, while the new routes must follow Highway 46 - Dang Thai Mai to Vinh bypass, not Highway 1, the vehicles departing from the Eastern bus station are allowed to follow Highway 1A, cutting through the Northern Vinh bus station to pick up and drop off passengers. This is not fair to the stations and bus companies that strictly follow the rule of not being allowed to enter the city center routes.

At the dialogue, transport businesses and bus companies proposed that, along with banning and strictly handling the phenomenon of passenger buses running through the city center to pick up passengers from May 1, 2023, the province needs to develop a suitable traffic diversion plan, ensuring traffic safety and fair competition between stations and bus companies.

In addition, businesses and bus owners said that passenger transport business is very difficult, so they suggested that the province consider planning to separate the inner-city and inter-district bus systems; it is necessary to increase inspections and collect images from people and the press to strictly handle the situation of buses carrying passengers from other provinces running through the center of Vinh city at night to stop and pick up passengers.

After nearly 1 session, there were 15 recommendations related to the current state of transport business and bus route division. The above opinions will be collected by Nghe An Bus Station Joint Stock Company to make a document recommending the Provincial Transport Association, the Department of Transport and the Provincial People's Committee to consider, ensuring the process of building objective and fair route division plans for bus companies and bus stations to develop together; limiting and strictly handling the situation of illegal buses and bus stations in the area./.
