Vidic was bought by Manchester United from Spartak Moscow in early 2006 for £7 million. Along with Rio Ferdinand, the former Red Star Belgrade defender has been one of the two most reliable anchors in the center of the Red Devils' defense for many years. Currently, Vidic has only a few months left on his contract with the reigning Premier League champions and he has no intention of signing a new agreement.
Speaking to the press, the player, who has 56 caps for the Serbian national team, confirmed the information. “According to my contract, I will only play for MU until the end of this season. Eight years playing here has been a truly wonderful time. When I first arrived at Old Trafford, I couldn't have imagined that I would win 15 titles with MU.”
“Of course, I will never forget that magical evening in Moscow (when MU beat Chelsea to win the 2007-2008 Champions League). Although I have many fond memories with MU, I have decided to leave the club after this season ends. I want to seek new challenges and have more exciting experiences in the final years of my career,” the MU number 15 shared.
When asked about his next destination, Vidic added: “I don’t intend to stay in England, because Manchester United is the only team here that I want to play for. I’ve been lucky enough to have contributed to this club for many years. I currently have a few options. I will consider them and make the decision that is most reasonable for both myself and my family.”
While playing for Manchester United, Vidic won 5 Premier League titles, 3 League Cups, 5 FA Community Shields, one Champions League title, and one FIFA Club World Cup. According to some sources, Vidic's next destination will be Inter Milan.
