Subject with 2 previous convictions was caught for storing drugs in case of drug addiction

On the morning of June 17, 2020, at the People's Committee of Nghia Dong commune, Tan Ky district People's Court tried a mobile criminal case against Tran Anh Cong (born in 1989), residing in Tan Thanh hamlet, Nghia Thai commune, for the crime of "Illegal possession of narcotics".

According to the indictment, at 6:00 p.m. on April 22, 2020, Cong, a drug addict, drove a motorbike with license plate 37N1 - 036.92 from Nghia Thai commune to Ky Son district to buy drugs for use. When he arrived at My Ly commune, Ky Son district, Cong met a man about 40 years old, about 1.65m tall, dark skin, standing on the side of the road, so he stopped to talk. During the conversation, Cong asked "Bro, is there anywhere that sells crystal meth?" then the man above said"Yes, give me the money and I'll go buy it for you.".

Cong gave this man 2,500,000 VND. The man took the money and said "Wait there". About 30 minutes later, the man returned and gave Cong a package wrapped in black plastic with white solid crystals inside. Cong knew that the white solid crystals were methamphetamine, so he wrapped them up, hid them on his person, and left. When he returned to Tan Ky district, Cong hid the drugs he had just bought in a rice field near his house in Tan Thanh hamlet, Nghia Thai commune, Tan Ky district for later use.

At about 7:10 p.m. on April 23, 2020, Cong went to the edge of the field to get the previously hidden package of drugs, put it on his person, and then went out to use it when he had an addiction attack. While Cong was walking on Highway 48D in Hamlet 8, Nghia Dong Commune, Tan Ky District, he was asked by the Tan Ky District Police working group to conduct an administrative check. Cong voluntarily took out a black plastic bag from his pocket containing a white solid crystal substance and handed it over to the Tan Ky District Police. He publicly stated that it was crystal meth.

The sealed record of Tan Ky District Police identified the white crystalline solid seized from Cong as drugs weighing 16.49 grams.

Previously, Cong had been imprisoned twice for illegal possession of drugs with a 4-year sentence.

In this case, according to Cong's statement about the man who bought drugs for Cong, the Tan Ky District Police Investigation Agency is investigating and verifying but has not yet had results. The Tan Ky District Police Investigation Agency will handle it later.

As for Mr. Nguyen Nhuan Danh, the person who lent Cong his motorbike to buy drugs, when he borrowed the motorbike, Danh did not know that Cong borrowed the motorbike to buy drugs, so the Investigation Police Department of Tan Ky District Police did not prosecute Mr. Danh criminally, which is correct by law.

The People's Court sentenced Cong to 6 years and 6 months in prison.
