May said that around February 2020, she left the country to work as a worker in Xieng Khouang province in Laos. Due to the complicated developments of the Covid-19 epidemic in Laos, lack of jobs, wanting to go home but afraid of being quarantined, on May 20, May took a car to Dinh Dam village, Noong Het Tay village cluster, Noong Het district, Xieng Khouang province and asked a Lao man to show her the way to the forest to return to Vietnam.

Nam Can International Border Guard Station has taken measures to prevent and control the Covid-19 epidemic according to regulations, completed the administrative penalty file for VPHC and sent Kha Van May to quarantine at the Chieu Luu Commune Health Station, Ky Son District.
