Malaysia team calls up 25 players to prepare to face Vietnam

(Baonghean.vn) - This morning (September 23), Coach Tan Chang Hoe of the Malaysian National Team announced the preliminary list of players to prepare for the match against the Vietnamese National Team at My Dinh Stadium on October 10 in the 2022 World Cup qualifiers.

Accordingly, coach Tan Chang Hoe decided to call up 25 best players of Malaysia for the match against Vietnam. Compared to the two matches against Indonesia and UAE, the Malaysian team eliminated Hadin Azman (Felda United) and added two new players, defender Aidil Zafuan (JDT) and midfielder Abdul Halim Saari (Selangor).

Defender Aidil Zafuan is not a stranger to Vietnamese players. This 32-year-old defender, who is playing for Johor DT, has faced us many times at the AFF Cup and Que Ngoc Hai and Pham Xuan Manh at the AFC Cup 2018. Abdul Halim Saari is a midfielder born in 1994 who plays quite prominently for the Selangor Club.

In this list, there are 4 naturalized players including Gambian striker Mohamadou Sumareh who played at the AFF Cup 2018, midfielder Brendan Gan (Australian), defender Matthew Davies (Australia) and center back Corbin-Ong (England).

Thus, the Malaysian team is expected to bring to Vietnam 3 goalkeepers, 9 defenders, 9 midfielders and 4 strikers. In the attack, the most notable are veteran striker Talaha and 3 faces Danial Amier, Shahrel Fikri and Syafiq Ahmad. Midfielder Safawi Rasid has also been a mainstay of Malaysia for many years.

In addition to the 25 players mentioned above, there are 7 players who have been put on the reserve list: Syazwan Andik Ishak (JDT), Khairul Fahmi Che Mat (Melaka), Jafri Firdaus Chew (PKNS FC), Amirul Azhan Aznan (Perak), serta Azzizan Nordin and Rawilson Batuil (Sabah).

To prepare for the match against Vietnam, the Malaysian team will gather from September 30, have a friendly match against Sri Lanka at Bukit Jalil Stadium on October 5 before moving to Hanoi.
