Coach Valery Karpin affirmed that the Russian team's goal is to win against the Vietnamese team in the opening match of the 2024 International Friendly Tournament.

On the evening of September 4, the Russian team had a practice session at My Dinh Stadium before the opening match of the International Friendly Tournament against the Vietnamese team.

Speaking to the media before the training session, Russian coach Valery Karpin said: “Our goal is of course to win. The opponent is probably the same. We are very serious about this match. It is difficult for us because we do not have many opportunities to play. So when we have an opponent to play, we are very serious, the whole team is ready to go out on the field.”

Valery Karpin also said that the hot weather will affect the Russian players because it will make it difficult for them to move and play at high intensity for 90 minutes. However, he said that is not the main problem. "We do not care about the weather or the field, we just want to focus on playing football," the captain of the Russian team expressed.
