Saudi Arabian team fined for heavy loss to Russia at World Cup

Saudi Arabia Football Federation President Adel Ezzat said members of the national football team will face disciplinary action for their humiliating defeat to Russia in the opening match of the 2018 World Cup, Al-Youm Assabaa newspaper reported.
“We are very disappointed with this defeat. This result is completely unsatisfactory, because it does not accurately reflect our level of preparation,” said Mr. Ezzat.
“A number of players will face sanctions, including goalkeeper Abdullah Al-Mayouf, striker Mohammad Al-Sahlawi and defender Omar Hawsawi,” he added.
Chairman of the General Sports Authority Turki bin Abdulmohsen Al-Sheikh in a video posted on his personal Twitter page also described the recent match as a "complete failure".
The 2018 FIFA World Cup kicked off on June 14. The opening match took place in Moscow, Russia, between the host nation Russia and the national team from Saudi Arabia, with the Russian team winning 5-0. In the next match, Saudi Arabia will face Uruguay in the southern Russian city of Rostov-on-Don on June 20.
