Vietnam U20 team canceled match due to storm in Japan
Typhoon Shanshan landed in Japan, forcing the Vietnam U20 team to cancel their practice match with SV Matsuyama.
According to the plan, the U20 Vietnam team will have a practice match with SV Matsuyama tomorrow (August 30). However, due to unfavorable weather conditions caused by typhoon Shanshan, this match had to be canceled.
This is also the last practice match of the Vietnam U20 team during the training session in Ehime, Japan. The fact that the match cannot be held will more or less affect the team's professional plan, but it is unavoidable in the current weather conditions.
According to information from the Japan Meteorological Agency (JMA), this morning, the storm made landfall in Kagoshima Prefecture, located nearly 500km from Ehime, where the Vietnam U20 team is training. JMA said the storm is expected to enter the central and eastern regions of Japan this weekend.
Level 4 evacuation orders are being issued in some areas of Japan due to the risk of heavy rain, flooding and landslides, meaning that the remaining 2 days of training sessions of the Vietnam U20 team in Ehime may not be carried out as originally planned.
Coach Hua Hien Vinh said that the coaching staff is currently waiting for updates from the local organizing committee. If the weather conditions are favorable, the practice match of the Vietnam U20 Team can be reactivated on August 31.
On September 1, the team will return home to continue finalizing preparations for the 2025 AFC U20 Championship Qualifiers. During this period, the team will have two internal matches with the Russian U20 team in Hanoi./.
