(Baonghean.vn) - The Vietnamese team will receive spiritual strength from Vietnamese fans living and studying in the Philippines in the match on November 16.

The Vietnamese team will have a difficult away match against the host team Philippines in the second qualifying round of the 2026 World Cup. This is the first official match of the Vietnamese team under coach Philippe Troussier. After the failures in the friendly matches last October, many spectators expressed disappointment with the philosophy and playing style of the French strategist.

However, Vietnamese fans living and studying in the Philippines still believe in a victory for their team, and have called on everyone to come to the stadium to cheer on coach Philippe Troussier and his team.

Mr. Tran Xuan Quang, from Hai Phong, currently working in tourism in the Philippines, is one of the people connecting and organizing cheers for the Vietnamese team to compete with the Philippine team in the upcoming match. He said: "The results of the recent matches of the Vietnamese team have not been as expected, and the playing style of the players under coach Philippe Troussier has not been as expected. However, out of patriotism, and because I am Vietnamese, I will always support wherever the Vietnamese team competes. In addition, this is also an opportunity for Vietnamese people to meet, because here there are very few opportunities for people to connect and interact with each other."

Talking about the plan to cheer up coach Philippe Troussier and his team in the near future, Mr. Quang shared: "When we heard that the Vietnamese team was preparing to come here to play the first match in the second qualifying round of the 2026 World Cup, everyone here bought tickets and made an appointment to gather on the field that day. In addition, we also prepared banners and water to give out for free to the fans. With the hope that when the players look up at the stands, they will see the Vietnamese spirit always burning with enthusiasm. It is expected that about 2,000 fans will be present at the field to cheer for the Golden Star Warriors."

Mr. Quang also said: "In addition to the people living and studying in the Philippines, the association will also connect with fans from Vietnam to coordinate cheering. Personally, I will be the bridge to call on everyone to gather and go to the field together to cheer for the team. The association will also support those from Vietnam to find the most suitable accommodation."

Sharing the same excitement, Mr. Nguyen Pham Hoang Nguyen, from Dong Nai, currently opening a restaurant in Manila (Philippines) shared: "In 2019, the U23 Vietnam team also came here to compete at the 30th SEA Games, many people here also came to the stadium to cheer, but this time there will be more because now the social networks share a lot, and people can access information more easily. In addition, in recent years, the number of Vietnamese people going to the Philippines to work has increased, so it is likely that the number of Vietnamese spectators will surpass that of the home team."
