In Nghia Trung commune (Nghia Dan), the Catholic region has 2 parishes, with more than 145 households living in 2 hamlets 4 and 5. Implementing the National Target Program on New Rural Construction (NTM), recently, the Catholic people here have actively donated land, supported efforts and money, and completed traffic works in the area.
In hamlet 5, there are 107 households, of which more than 60% are parishioners of Xuan Yen parish. People's lives have improved a lot. The muddy dirt roads that were once muddy during the rainy season have been replaced by a standard concrete road system.
The houses are tiled and spacious; the orchards are planted and cared for by diligent farmers to gradually increase their family income. When people's lives are improved, the movements to join hands to build new rural areas are also enthusiastically supported by both religious and non-religious people, because more than anyone else, people understand the value of building new rural areas to serve their own lives.
“In joining hands to build the new rural area, each person has determined that they are the ones who benefit, so they have joined hands to complete the concrete road. Adults can go to work, children can go to school more easily, not to mention cars and motorbikes can also come to the house to buy agricultural products, life is much less difficult.”

In Hamlet 4 of Nghia Thanh family, implementing the National Target Program on New Rural Construction, in recent times, the Hamlet Party Committee has actively promoted and mobilized Catholic and non-Catholic people to compete in economic development. Currently, the Hamlet has 30 economic development models with income from 50 - 300 million VND/year; the average income reaches over 35 million VND/person/year; over 83% of families have achieved cultural titles; the poverty rate of the Hamlet is only 3 households.
To achieve those criteria, Mr. Bui Quang Trung - Village Chief said: "The first criterion is to deploy and do propaganda work for the people to understand. The second criterion is that all people must unite together."
Along with economic development, the movement to build new rural areas has also received special attention from the hamlet executive committee and the parish council. Previously, the hamlet's roads were narrow and difficult to travel. After the policy of expanding and concreting roads was issued, the Party Committee, the executive committee and the parish council mobilized parishioners to donate land and build concrete rural roads with the motto of the State and the people working together. The family of parishioner Le Quang Luu in hamlet 5 is one of the pioneers in this movement. Realizing that the Party and State's policy of building new rural areas was completely correct and in line with the people's wishes, the family took the lead in donating land, contributing 1.2 million VND and working days to expand 3 km of concrete roads.
Mr. Luu said: “Implementing the policy of the Party and the State, my family unanimously and voluntarily donated land, only hoping that the villagers and their children can travel on clean and airy roads. Each family sacrifices a part to contribute to the construction of the new rural area, then that family and the whole village will benefit...”.
“Nghia Trung has 2 parishioners’ hamlets, accounting for over 7%. After the policy of building a new rural area was issued, the commune has stepped up propaganda and mobilized people to participate. Up to now, the 2 hamlets have achieved 15/15 new rural criteria. Rural roads have reached over 85%. Thanks to their efforts and bold steps, the parishioners here have had a more fulfilling and prosperous life.”
