The Provincial Party Secretary inspects flood and storm relief efforts.

(Baonghean.vn) - On October 16th, Comrade Nguyen Dac Vinh, Member of the Central Committee of the Party, Secretary of the Nghe An Provincial Party Committee, along with a delegation from Nghe An province, inspected flood and storm recovery efforts in Dien Chau, Hung Nguyen, and Nghi Loc districts and offered encouragement to affected residents.

Also accompanying the delegation were Comrade Huynh Thanh Dien, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, and Comrade Hoang Nghia Hieu, Director of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development.

The inspection team is at the Dien Thanh sluice gate in Dien Chau.

In Dien Chau district, the working group inspected the drainage system in Dien Thanh commune. Here, the Northern Irrigation Company Limited has deployed personnel to be on duty 24/7 to monitor the flood situation, remove water hyacinths, and clear the waterways.

At Dien Thanh and Dien Chau sluice gates, a significant amount of water hyacinth has drifted ashore. The Northern Irrigation Company Limited has dispatched workers to remove the hyacinth and prevent flooding.

Mr. Nguyen Van Phuong, Director of Bac Irrigation Company Limited, said: "This is an important drainage point in Dien Chau district that is currently blocked due to an excessive amount of water hyacinth. We have mobilized all available resources to cut the water hyacinth and divide the area to create a channel for water flow. During the inspection, the provincial inspection team also acknowledged the proactive efforts of Bac Irrigation Company Limited in mobilizing resources to drain floodwaters."

The working group continued its inspection at the Phuong Tich bridge area in Nghi Phuong commune, Nghi Loc district, which was severely flooded. The Provincial Party Secretary requested the mobilization of forces to clear the water hyacinths and strictly prohibited people from crossing the flooded area.

Comrade Nguyen Dac Vinh, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, and Comrade Hoang Nghia Hieu, Director of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, inspected the storm situation in Hung Trung commune, Hung Nguyen district.

The working group inspected flood control efforts in Hung Tay and Hung Trung communes (Hung Nguyen district), encouraging affected residents to overcome difficulties. Mr. Ngo Phu Han, Chairman of the Hung Nguyen District People's Committee, stated that over 1,000 hectares of agricultural land in Hung Nguyen district were flooded, with approximately 400 households in Hung Trung commune severely affected. The district urgently needs investment in a project to expand the Nghi Quang sluice gate to improve flood drainage.

The Provincial Party Secretary acknowledged the efforts of localities, sectors, and people in implementing measures to mitigate flooding caused by heavy rains.

The comrade requested that the People's Committees of districts and communes closely monitor the situation on the ground, promptly report to the agricultural sector and authorities at all levels to ensure timely response. Focus on solutions to quickly drain water, remove floodwaters, and mitigate the consequences of the floods on agriculture. After the floods, special attention should be paid to organizing sanitation and providing essential supplies to help people in flood-affected areas stabilize their lives as soon as possible.
