Provincial Party Secretary inspects flood and storm recovery work

(Baonghean.vn) - On October 16, comrade Nguyen Dac Vinh, member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, and a delegation from Nghe An province inspected flood and storm recovery work in Dien Chau, Hung Nguyen, Nghi Loc and shared and encouraged people affected by the damage.

Also accompanying the delegation were Mr. Huynh Thanh Dien, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, and Mr. Hoang Nghia Hieu, Director of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development.

In Dien Chau district, the working group inspected the drainage system of Dien Thanh commune. Here, the Bac Irrigation One Member Co., Ltd. sent a team to be on duty 24/7 to monitor the flood situation, collect water hyacinth, and clear the flow.

Dien Thanh and Dien Chau culverts have a lot of water fern floating in them. Bac Irrigation Company Ltd. has assigned workers to collect water fern to drain the water.

Mr. Nguyen Van Phuong - Director of Bac Irrigation One Member Co., Ltd. said: This is an important drainage point of Dien Chau district that is currently blocked due to the large amount of water fern. We have mobilized all possible forces and means to cut the water fern above, divide it to create a channel for the flow. During the inspection here, the provincial inspection team also acknowledged the initiative of Bac Irrigation One Member Co., Ltd. in mobilizing forces to drain the flood.

The working group continued to inspect the heavily flooded Phuong Tich bridge area in Nghi Phuong commune, Nghi Loc. The Provincial Party Secretary requested the mobilization of forces to clear the water hyacinth and absolutely prohibited people from passing through the flooded area.

The working group inspected flood prevention work in Hung Tay and Hung Trung communes (Hung Nguyen), encouraging the affected people to overcome difficulties. Mr. Ngo Phu Han - Chairman of the District People's Committee said that the entire Hung Nguyen district was flooded with over 1,000 hectares of agricultural land, especially more than 400 households in Hung Trung commune were severely flooded. The district is in dire need of investment in the Nghi Quang sluice expansion project to drain the flood.

The Provincial Party Secretary acknowledged the efforts of localities, sectors and people in implementing plans to limit flooding caused by heavy rain.

He requested the People's Committees of districts and communes to closely follow the scene and promptly report to the agricultural sector and authorities at all levels to have timely solutions. Focus on solutions to quickly drain water, reduce waterlogging, and overcome the consequences of floods on agriculture. After the flood, special attention should be paid to organizing epidemic hygiene and supporting necessities to help people in flooded areas stabilize their lives soon./.
