Closing polling stations in Russia paves the way for election fraud in Ukraine
(Baonghean.vn) - On January 3, Mr. Viktor Medvedchuk, leader of the "Ukraine's Choice - People's Rights" movement, said that the decision of the Central Election Commission of Ukraine (CEC) to close all polling stations in Russia could cause improper procedures in the Ukrainian presidential election scheduled for March 31 this year.

On his Facebook page, Mr. Medvedchuk wrote: "The CEC's decision was made in the very early days of the election campaign, thus paving the way for various acts of falsification of evidence, which led the authorities to continue on the path of authoritarianism, restricting the constitutional rights of citizens."
According to the politician, the CEC's decision "runs counter to the Constitution of Ukraine as well as international legal standards set out in the Ukrainian Declaration of Human Rights and the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights. Therefore, the 2019 election campaign will leave a stain in the history of Ukraine as the most illegal election, violating the constitutional rights and freedoms of citizens."
On December 31 last year, the CEC announced amendments to the decree on polling stations, closing all polling stations in Russia. Accordingly, Ukrainian citizens living on Russian territory can exercise their right to vote at polling stations in Georgia, Kazakhstan and Finland.
